Tis' the season to show my collection!

#1

Post by GoldenSpydie »

After all of the seconds that I got in November, I figured that it is time for a group picture and collection update.

All in all, there are 113 Spydercos in this picture. The pink Native, Dragonfly Tatoo, and Assist are my mom's. The HG Manix in 154CM is going to be a Christmas present to my dad.

The second Manix 2 Cruwear and the K2 are currently disassembled for modding, but still included in the picture.

Amazing collection! :) I can only hope to have a collection like this some day. How long did it take you to build your collection up to this? With senior year of high school being my "job" it makes it tough to make money for Spydercos! I'm loving that ATR you have there, by the way. :D

Thanks guys!

Matt: I'm in high school too, oddly enough! ;) I agree that funding is challenging. I try to save as much as possible so that I am ready to pounce when "that one" comes up. Petsitting is the major income source for me, along with gifts and odd jobs. The seconds sale was amazing because I was able to get tons of awesome knives for insanely cheap. It has been about 2 years of Spyder buying, but I have been using some savings from 4+ years ago. I did a ton of petsitting when I was really young, and I never spent any money, so I had a good bit built up.

Here are some of the promised "grail" pics:

That's a sweet haul, GS! Cool to see the Spyderholes as well...guess I never thought about where all those end up!

Personal faves/wants for me in your group are the G-10 Polliwog and Lil Temp. Hoping for a sprint of the former and the 2.0 version of the latter.

Very nice! I was proud of my collection in high school, but yours is a lot more comprehensive than mine was! Granted, most of those models weren't out when I was in high school :D

My collection in high school consisted of a Spyderco Q and a Schrade knife with some sort of keyring quick-release built in. I think you might have me beat. :D

Really? I never would've guessed a kid in high school like myself could have a collection like that! Mine should be growing soon though. :D

Wow! I never would have guessed you'd be that young given the greatness of your collection and your photography skills. Not to mention the kindness to organize a passaround. I am, yet gain, quite impressed. I had one Spyderco in high school, the one that I found under the seat of my first car. The one that started it all.

But enough of that. What the heck is that long thing on the right in the group pic?

Awesome collection Golden! The long stainless handled knife on the right looks like a dive probe. But, what is up with the TMAg? Looks...one dimensional. :D

Favorite? Nice joke. ;) :p If I could only keep one, it would probably be this S30V PM2, due to many reasons.

Thanks! As Warden said, it is a Small Dive Probe, model number 2001. It is sometimes referred to as a Dive Tool; I don't know which is the official term. I used it in Florida for cutting down coconuts. The long handle and serrations were perfect for this! :D

Welcome to the Forum! You seem to have a lot of Spyder knowledge to be able to recognize a Dive Probe and a T-Mag. :) To answer your question, you are absolutely right--it is flat! I forgot to put it in the picture, so I photoshopped it in later. ;)

Also, did you anodize your ATR blue? It looks awesome. :) And the one Spyderco I'd keep is my satin/camo para 2 as well.
