i am a bit curious. i hear most of you posting about what you carry to work and whatnot. where do you guys (and gals ) work that would neccesitate that many knives. i am a cook at the local pizza hut. and one more thing.... what does EDC mean? thanks

sven,

EDC is "everyday carry"...your day in day out blade. I am a professional Firefighter-Paramedic for a fairly large city in North Louisiana. My EDC is a battle-worn FRN Delica PE. I usually carry several knives on duty, but my Delica is my current EDC.

I'm a scenic designer for live theater, film, & t.v. When I worked as a carpenter and a stagehand I would cary a large lock blade multi-tool and a swiss army knife for work now just the swiss army knife but if I go to check things out on site I aways bring one of my bigger spydercos often the 60/40 Wegner or SE Harpy just in case I need to do some serious cutting.

No job here, I wish i could do some work but, at my age its very hard to find a decent job, plus im so caught up in school i barely have time to work. But soon ill be out of that and Im gonna start takein classes to learn how to be a guitar technician, **** maybe ill even be good enough and go on the road for a big band And I dont have any other spyders left, except one so thats all that i carry. I also carry my Emerson Mini commander PE has EDC, untill i get my PE mili

I am a truck driver by trade and use my EDCs for everything from cutting up food to cutting up rubber hoses, straps, rope, etc.. For these reasons, I carry both PlainEdge and SpyderEdge blades.

My favorite EDC was my Military, however, it is occasionally substituted by my Emerson Commander as my PlainEdge blade. The Blue Rescue SE is what I carry for rigorous cutting as mentioned above, and the Emerson LaGriffe neckknife is my self-defense blade. (Although the Commander can easily fill this need too .) I also carry a Jester SE on my keychain for those little cutting jobs and my FRN Cricket SE as a money clip.

Sometimes I do think that I may overdue it with my EDCs, but I just don't feel "right" without them. "Better to have and not need, than to need and not have...."

Used to be a long haul trucker before a **** idiot let a pick up truck running in gear with just the hand brakes on and the pressure of the auto tranny eventually overcame the parking break, I just happened to be between it and a guard rail as it hit me from the blind side @ approx 35 mph.
Ended my trucking carrear and after 4 surgerys and a decent settlement i've started a knife customizing shop in my home.
Now i do what i love the most, hunt, fish, work on knives.
Life works in wierd ways huh. Ron

Just another Paramedic from the rural southern parts of Louisiana. I have been carrying Spydercos for the better part of my 10 years in the EMS field.

Hi Sven,
You have a fine job IMO, I presume you can have all the pizza you want (I love pizza)
As for myself, I am technical manager, system administrator, graphic designer and lately basic accountant for a printing house. Don't like it very much and I'm pretty poorly paid (about 140$ a month), but with this unemployment here at least I'm glad I can make a living for me and my family.

Edited in order to tell about my knives. My EDC is a PE Delica I got from ATE. On weekends, I pick my SE Meerkat I got from my fellows forumites. I also have a SS Copilot from Java, but I don't wear a suit too often (I just can't imagine the Copilot to match anything else than a suit) so I carry it only now and then.

Was a Microwave/Fiber Optic Tech until AT&T made me an offer that I couldn't refuse. Built my Case Knife collection up shopping in small town hardwares while driving to Microwave towers all over the country.

Police patrol officer / field training officer / field performance evaluator for a big-city PD. That is work. Volunteer in canine search and recovery. All too rarely, play by canoeing / kayaking / diving. Therefore, I find uses for many different knives. The reason for more than one at a time is to be able to reach one while in difficult positions, with either hand, and because sometimes I want the blunt tip of a Rescue knife, sometimes the tiger-claw effect of a Harpy or Civilian, sometimes the sturdy tip of a conventional blade, and sometimes, like when riding a bicycle at night, a neck knife like the LaGriffe. I usually carry 2 or 3 at a time, depending on perceived need.

I'm the Supervisor of the Parking Enforcement/Security Dept. at our local College. I'm also a retired Deputy Sheriff.

I carry a PE Police and a PE Delica to "work" with me, along with a SOG Deluxe Pocket PowerPlier.
