Fun find: Swiss-made Spyderco C22 Walker/Klotzli

Last weekend, I was browsing some pawn shop auctions on Ebay--you know, the typical "lot of 10 gas station knives" type thing. So imagine my surprise when I spot a lonely looking Spyderco lumped in with a bunch of no-name gas station knives! :eek: I instantly recognized it as the C22 Walker. The seller had no idea about what they were selling, so the price stayed low.

One Gixen bid later and she was on the way to me. Fast forward to today, and I am the proud owner of another "rare one!" :D

Sweet find!!! The seller would be scratching his head if he knew how much this knife would have made on Ebay if it was correctly advertised! Awesome that you spotted it, this is the little luck you need when looking around. Its a very nice addition to your collection and one every Spyderco enthousiast should own.

I always loved it, its so light and well made. How do you like the knife?

That machine gun knife is beyond ridiculous. They even put a picture of a barrel on the blade in case you didn't get the point. Nice snag!

Yeah, I've had good luck with online pawn shops, but never in person. I got my first WTC from a different Ebay pawn shop.

IG-88: It is amazingly light. I thought that the Walker LW would be lighter, but the opposite is true! With a little washing and 3-in-1 oil, she's almost as good as new (except of course for the faded blue). It came completely dull, but the Sharpmaker fixed that. Overall, I really like the Walker!

I have wanted one of those since I first saw it in an encyclopedia of knives. .coffee table like book with a lot of amazing knives in it. I was new to Spyderco and right away I saw that knife and thought wow, that is something special. It is a grail for me...congratulations!

Well, right now they're in their mailing box waiting for something to happen to them. Maybe give them away to friends, maybe sell them...I don't really know what to do with them. Suggestions?

The Stihl and Hilti knives might be worth something to power tool users/collectors. Does it say where they were made? I bought a Stihl pocketknife at my local Stihl dealership a few years ago to use as a beater. After 2 weeks the knife fell apart in my pocket, all the screws came loose and I couldn't tighten them down again. I was surprised Stihl would put their name on such a bad product. Anyway it led me to buying my first Spyderco :)

That C-22 model is considered a Holy Grail amoung a lot of collectors. I remember when that knife was on the main line up>> and it was hard to get ahold of when it was being manufactured from what I can remember.

With Klotzli being the collaborator it doesn't surprise me that the knife is one of the most enviable collector-Spyders of all time. Because Klotzli themselves are a very respectable knife company of their own. I just wish that Klotzli would use some of the newer blade steels. The last time I looked at any of their knives they were still making blades with ATS-34.

When it comes to carbon fiber handles I don't know of any knife company that has a better selection of CF handles than Klotzli has. I wish them and Spyderco would eventually do another collaboration soon.
