Marcin Slysz SwayBack FrameLock Folder

#1

Post by LC Kid »

Hi Folks!

Some days ago I found this interpretation of the classic SwayBack made by Marcin Slysz:

Pics by PiterM at BF.

For me this is the best Modern SwayBack ever made.
:) Attention to details is superb, F&F unbelievable, and the clean lines design is taken to a whole new level.

A future new Spyderco / Slysz collaboration?

Nice knife but I'm just not a big fan of the wharncliffe blade because its too hard to maintain tip and keep it in original form

For me it's really simple: Wharncliffe Blade = Bench Stones

Wow, I would love that knife. When was that a prototype?

Hi chuckd!

The Slysz SwayBack FrameLock Folder IS a prototype.

It was just unveiled by PiterM at the BF like two weeks ago.

And it's already a Grand Slam!

Outstanding design! Does anyone know if Marcin is going to be at the Blade Show later this week?

So, uh, any news on this? Given that I've now bought a Techno and a Slysz Bowie, my wallet's more than a little bit worried.

Welcome to the forum, FrequencyandSulphur. I haven't heard any rumblings about the sway back design going into production. That doesn't count for much, I know. :) Regardless, I suspect Spyderco is probably just focusing on unveiling their current Marcin design, the Slysz Bowie. I hope to see this design in production. It is stunningly beautiful.

I'm guessing it's only a prototype for the custom pieces that Marcins does at this point, not for Spyderco. Just because a maker uses the Spyderhole under license for their own knives does not mean or imply there is any future prospect for a production version with Spyderco.

I assume LC posted it here because it would be of interest to us...and he was right. :) But I presume it would have to be done up as a legit Spyderco concept or prototype and shown at a major trade show before we really start anticipating anything.
