Why do I need a military?
Ok, as you may know the Endura is my favorite knife. Due to feel, size and construction. Now I love the Para2 its a beautiful knife and the thing I like the most is the size of the blade it is similar to the Endura. I have been looking at the Military but I dont really like a liner lock on such a large blade and have heard about the very thin tip. Are there any new military2 coming out that might improve these or is the military great the way it is. I need to see if its worth adding one to my EDC collection.

I totally agree with basically everything you said 110%. I really like the Endura, have several of various flavors, but the Military rocks. I definitely like the frame locks on the Ti versions, so if the lock is a real concern for you, we can all attest to their massive strength, and I have zero concern about my liner lock versions either (which includes my weekend EDC choice). As for the tip, don't pry anything period. Same's true for most other Spydies except the battle tank versions (Valloton, Tuff, etc). Plus Sal's bequeathed the ultimate gift to my most favorite models - the fluted sunburst pattern - to only the Native 5 and Military. Can't wait to see the fluted Ti PM2 someday and the translation to the CF handles. My blood pressure is going up too much thinking about these future possibilities! Go get one today. Cheers, Radioactive :)Igi964 wrote:Everybody should have a Military. It is a great knife. Big, light, strong, cut like laser sword. Endura is like a plastic toy next to a Millie :)

Wow......those are gorgeous. Out of the few knives I have the Millie feels the most "Lethal" in the hand - if that makes sense/or helps? Its an awesome knife!RadioactiveSpyder wrote:I totally agree with basically everything you said 110%. I really like the Endura, have several of various flavors, but the Military rocks. Every sovereign nation needs a military :D
Every Spyderco enthusiast needs one too... It is slim, light, capable, comfortable to carry and extremely comfortable in the hand. Once you are used to a Military, the PM2 just feels a bit small and insignificant.
All my spydies can do day-to-day EDC stuff well enough, but when I have some real cutting tasks to accomplish, I usually grab a Military.

I'm not in the military, I don't consider any of my knives to be "tactical," and I generally carry folders in the 3 inch range.
That said, I really like the Military. I was initially hesitant about the size, but I picked one up for $99 when I heard the left hand version was disco'd. I figured as a lefty I shouldn't pass up a left hand liner lock while I had the chance. I liked it so much I got a Cru-Wear as well :)
Others have already covered the "pros" pretty well. Just buy one! It's like the Para's Grandfather, lol.

Get one for the many reasons people have listed, Big, light, Strong and GREAT!!!!!! The Military is my favorite Spyderco and after you carry it for awhile it really does not feel that BIG. I use mine for everything from Hunting, Camping, Kitchen work to EDC. Just get one and try it! if ya don't like it sell it, but I think you will dig it.
The Military is my favorite knife, it carries very small for its size, the quality is excellent the action is very smooth. Some people don't like the fact that it only carries one way (right side tip down) this is not a problem for me as opening a knife this size is facilitated by tip down carry by placing the opening hole closer to the fingers on the draw. I think that all serious Spyderco aficionados would appreciate having an example of this knife. I still need to pick up a Paramilitary 2. :)
