I purchased this knife June 9, 2013. Within two weeks I gave it to my 9 year old boy. He lost it within a week. It was found last week out near a barn on our property by my 5 year old girl...So almost 10 months out in an area that gets some truck/tractor traffic, it hardly had any rust. Whatever there was he easily sanded off, and just a small amount of pitting was evidenced. Little soap and water on handle and oiled pivot, very smooth.

That's nice. Got some rust in the handle.

It looks like it's ready to go. :)

Thanks for sharing... Reminds me that I don't have to baby my knives as much as I think -- they are more than durable enough to last my lifetime of use.

Hit it with some flitz metal polish and it will look better. That's a lot of knife for a 9 year old.

I'll pass along the metal polish information to him...and let him know your concerns!!! He's out in the woods with an 18 inch machete now though!! :)

I'd suggest take it apart. There might be rust between liner & G10, and some around the lanyard hole. Sand it down with sandpaper (400-1000) then WD40 it. Re-assemble & it'll be good to go!

Amazing condition after 10 months!

Disassembled, cleaned, and reassembled yesterday.

Some pre cleaning pictures:

Side facing blade.

Other side, the G10 offered some protection.

Hello.

It's a very good knife. After ten months outside, it is in a very good shape.

Thanks for sharing that good story.

Regards.
