General inquiry about the availability of certain knives
Just wondering, why IT IS IMPOSSIBLE to buy a para2 from Spyderco direct. Their website lists all models as Currently out of stock.

I know this doesn't help now, but Howe's just sold 20 PM2's in a little over two days. That's right, 20 sold. The PM2's are a little tricky to find, but they're out there. Knifecenter.com has them in stock as of a few days ago (but at a slightly higher price).

I'd say they're safe :)

KnifeCenter has them up for preorder only right now...no stock left. They sell out fast from ALL retailers (I still maintain the standard PM2 is the best knife anywhere from a price vs. quality ratio). If you want one you may need a little patience...and to check 4 or 5 of the larger online retailers daily. You'll pay full MSRP if you order from Spyderco directly, and I suspect they don't maintain stock due to demand from retailers, and also due to the fact that Spyderco is in the process of expanding their Golden facility.

There are many reputable online dealers to check frequently. You're guaranteed to get a genuine Spyderco (and pay a lot less than buying direct) from any of these...
Knife Works
Cutlery Shoppe
Howes Knife Shop
Grand Prairie Knives
National Knives
Knife Center
New Graham
Bladehq
With a little patience, you'll find one.

If you want the black bladed digi-cam version, and are willing to pay MSRP, you might want to check out Country Knives. They don't discount anything, but they're a 100% reputable, "old school" brick & mortar Spyderco dealer.

There are a number of sites where you can leave your email on a particular item as a "notify me when this is available". I want to say New Graham Knives, for example.
The Para2 is one of the hottest knives in Spyderco's collection and subject to a lower-than-average profit margin (ie: priced aggressively). You will find one eventually but I'm afraid unless they crank the MSRP up quite a bit they will continue to be difficult to track down. $100 give/take from a place like Cutlery Shoppe is just a crazy knife for the money.
