Enuff vs Street Beat

#1

Post by Officer Gigglez »

What is the word on them? I like the handle on the Street Beat, but don't like bowie style blades. I love the leaf blade Enuff but the handle looks less than desirable. So, I find myself in a conundrum. Can anyone sway me one way or another? I also hear the Enuff's sheath has a difficult time retaining the knife.

The Street Beat is one of my all-time favorites. I love the ergos of it, and as you've mentioned, the handle scales are beautiful: a micarta-lover's dream. (I wish the Street Bowie had followed suit, actually.) I've tried out the Enuff, and it was fine but seemed a little small: my first impression was that I'd do just as well using a good leaf/sheepfoot folder. The FRN handle didn't thrill me either, but would probably hold up better in the elements. So, as I'm sure others will point out, some of the debate may come down to what your intentions are for the knife. But I will say that in my case, the opening of the Street Beat box resulted in one of those "ahh"-type moments that seem to be the sign of a good choice.

The handle on the Enuff is very comfortable. I actually don't find the handle on the Street Beat/Fred Perrin Bowie that comfortable... my hand doesn't naturally fall into the index finger groove.

Has the sheath been improved or is there some out that has made a better one for them?

I really like my Enuff's. I find the handle grippy and comfortable. Blade size is great for my typical fixed blade uses of whittling, making wood shavings for fire prep, etc. Although I have seen some negative comments regarding the sheath dulling the blade, I haven't had any issues with mine, perhaps because I'm conscious about not letting the sharp edge drag on the sheath when I draw it out.

The SE Salt version is great for uses around water, especially since the Aqua Salt was discontinued.
Which Knife, A or B? get Both! (and C, D and E) :)

This is my experience too. I like the StreetBeat but do not love the handle shape.
