I'm sure that this has been asked before, and it may be a stupid question, but do you ever stray from Spyderco and buy other brands? (At this point in time, just about all the knives I own are Spydies.)

Lately, I've been reevaluating my <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> collection and decided on trading a couple of Spydies for an Emerson Commander. For some reason, I'm in a lull with the <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>, and feel the need to expand to other knife brands. Has anyone out there ever felt like this????

the only time I stray is when I get a knife(fixed bladed usually) that <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> doesn't make.

there is a special place in my heart for those 9-12inch blade "bush killers"!!!!!

Yes. Mostly fixed blades. Monogamy is commendable, and I love my Spydie's, but it's way too boring for me!(ed-spelling)

I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I keep an open mind.

I have Bucks, CRKT, Strider, Benchmade.

Spyderco makes great products, but that doesn't mean other brands are bad.

I have pretty much settled on Spyderco for my folders, but I go to SOG for my fixed-blade and multi-tool needs.

Yes, there are other good brands, but I stay mostly with Spyderco for folders. I have a Sebenza, an Al Mar cigar-cutting folder, and bought my wife an MOD Ladyhawk, and of course there is the occasional Swiss Army Knife. Otherwise, all my recent folders have been Spyderco. I have numerous fixed-blades by other companies, but my next FB will probably be a Temperance. With the folders, I like the Spyder Hole opening, which means, in an emergency, just one opening method to remember. Of course the Gunting gives me the option of kinetic opening, but the hole is still there.

Just got back from the gun show, with no new Emerson. This dealer wanted me to trade my full sized PlainEdged Calypso and Endura SE in VG-10....PLUS $50 cash for a LNIB Emerson Commander!!! Needless to say, I told him thanks but no thanks.

I saw a **used** Emerson LaGriffe there too, and I told him that I'd trade my Endura for it....he wanted the Spydie and $20 cash.

I think that I'll just stick with my Spydies. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Recently iv'e ony bought Spydies, i do have other brands B/M, Emerson, Strider, Paragon, CRKT, a few Case folders, some older Bokers.
But i always wind up now carring only Spydies and i don't see that changing.
I got on a CRKT kick for awhile and i still love my (well used Apache folder) and the Wharmcliffe version of their Mirage folder. Ron

"It takes all kinds to make the world go round" I collect mostly Spyderco's but I do have Benchmade,Sog,Buck,MOD,AlMar,CRKT. They all put out a solid product but like driving a Jeep there is this comraderie with Spydie's and their owners. No question on this forum is frowned upon or not answered. This is the place to be because we all contribute in some way to make this a user friendly and informative forum. There are always going to be other good/excellent companies out there but we who use, carry and collect Spydies know what the value of a good tool is and value them. So keep buying them so we never have to worry about not being able to buy them someday.

Strayed a bit with Sebenza, Mayo & Obernauf <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

I also like SAKs and I'm looking forward to the Buck/Mayo collaboration and the Strider SnG.

But I'm a Spyderman at heart and there are loads of Spyderco's in the pipeline that are calling me.

Strayed sometime ago and bought a small damascus Boker. Recently sold everything that I wasn't using and bought a Sebenza/Chinook/Military/Starmate and a Rescue.
I must say I like the Sebenza the best, the Chinook is a good 2nd.

I stick to spydies. I've bought Gerber and Buck, and still respect the brands, but I've been disappointed with my purchases. I've never been disappointed with a spydie. Emerson and BM are just too pricey for me. The Emerson wave looks cool, but I keep my knives clipped to my waistband. And the wave is just a little too combat oriented for my comfort, especially the video samples. I like to have some plausabile deniability.

For tactical knives, it's <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> alone in my drawer. However, the sheep of the world tend to get twitchy around an Endura or Native, so I also have a pretty fair set of traditional pieces.

Now if Queen and <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> would do the next version of the Kiwi, we'd really have something! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Never underestimate the impossible.
