Does anyone have a recommendation for a good flashlight with a flat shape? I have a lot of issues with round flashlights for EDC, and vastly prefer something flatter. I am currently carrying an Olight Arkfeld, but the laser feature is totally useless to me. I'd prefer something with a choice of white or red (rather than the Arkfeld's white light or laser).

Surefire has a couple of models that might fit the bill, but none with red light option. Also, some have reported less than stellar customer service related to the EDC models. FTR, I have two SF Sidekicks that have not let me down. At least not yet.

You'll probable need to look at some of the higher tier Chinese brands to find what you want.

Besides the emitter color, how do you like the TS25 vs the TS21? I keep the TS21 in my hiking bag because of its power bank capability.

there is not much difference, the magnet is a little weaker, but it holds, or more precisely You want to know?

i sold my ts21 because of the nasty green light and because wanted 5000K instead of 4000K. pictured alien ts21 5000K with an even greener tint

Nitecore makes some rectangular lights, usually on the small side, though. If you put a clip on most lights, they don't roll much. I think some people put some bumps on a light to stop it from rolling.

I ordered a Trustfire Mini-X as well. From what I read, the lock out works better than the one on the Fenix. I'll leave my brief thoughts on it after I receive it.

The Wuben X-3 doesn't ship until June/July.

I have some high-zoot flashlights, I've had some junky flashlights. Generally, the junky ones just go in the trash. I have flashlights throughout the house and garage. The one shown below is the BEST of all of them. My #1 criterion for a good flashlight is the switch needs to go off and on. That's it. I don't want it to send out SOS codes. I don't want a flashing strobe like I'm a time traveler from Studio 54 in the 70's. I don't want colors. I don't want a dim mode. I just want to reach for the light, click the switch, and get a good beam of light. Frivolous nonsense is a waste of my time. This particular light has a zoom feature. That's nice. It's bright, but not blinding, and it can reach out as far as I want to see.

I also like flashlights that arnen't too expensive, as long as they meet my needs. This one is Chinese and cost about 10-15 bucks. If I was to loose it, it wouldn't be a big deal. If I was to smash it, there would be no need to shed tears. This one served the last few years of my employment, and now resides in my "Go-Box," the toolbox that comes with me for special projects away from home. It's been dropped a lot. It's probably taken a few 20 footers, maybe more, and it works perfectly.

My advice? Buy half a dozen different Chinese lights. Choose the best one for your most important tasks, and distribute the rest around the house.

The Trustfire Mini-x is tiny powerhouse. So far I’m pleased with my purchase. I’ll have to put it in rotation with my SF Sidekick and gets some real use out of it. That’ll test the lockout feature as well.

The red light is nice, bright, and doesn’t blast your night vision. Two minor complaints, the red cannot be dimmed and you cannot set red to be first in the rotation. You have to hold the head of the light against your body if you are trying save your night vision while switching from white to red.

in headlamp Wurkkos HD15R you can to do it (150 lumen max in red).
in Fenix – no (4-5 lumen max only).

Wurkkos TS25 aux leds

I have used and abused streamlight strions, stingers and the folding “blade” versions of both, and micro streams for years both on the job and not. I use flashlights all day every day in the shop to make me money.

So naturally, I just picked up a streamlight wedge today. Anyone else have one they’ve used for a while? I plan to take it with me to work as well as in my pocket outside of work.

I've been testing this Fenix TK35UE v2.0 that I picked up on my last trip to Amsterdam. The emitter head is round but the body is flat and houses a couple 18650 Li-ion rechargeable batteries side by side with a total capacity of 7Ah and max output of 5000 lumen. It also runs on one 18650 which gives you 3500mAh and all 5 modes from eco to turbo. So far I really like it even though it's overkill for the yard. Build quality is exceptional and it's quite chunky at around 10 ounces fully loaded but 7Ah on low will last you a long time and for a floodlight it's actually quite nimble. Not quite pocket size but wears comfortably on a belt, unless you're sitting down a lot in which case the stainless steel bezel will likely leave some marks on the furniture.
