I lost my nitecore SENS mini during renovation of our house so I am using that as my excuse to look for a new light. Browsing Amazon I came upon Thrunite lights and they seem like a very high value for the price. I am going with a Saber 1A and a TiS to try out. The Saber appears to come with both AA and CR123 bodies and has 3 modes with mode memory. Looks like a nice deal at about 30% of the cost of the SENS mini I lost.

Anyone have any experience with this company? I have been getting more into lights lately and have been pleased with my Fenix, 4sevens, and the Nitecore I lost.

I have the Ti, T10, and Saber 1A models, which have all worked reliably for me. The Saber has been my favorite EDC light since I installed a Stylus Pro clip (via some stretching and epoxy) and a lanyard on it. The 3 modes, especially firefly, combined with mode memory are perfect for my needs. I occasionally use a 14500 battery for the wow factor.

I had considered the 2014 Saber version that you ordered, but I managed to get another older version from the ThruNite store before they sold out. The second Saber had issues with inconsistent operation, so customer service shipped me a replacement one, and I then shipped the defective one back. So, my experience with ThruNite CS has been very positive.

The only Thrunite I've owned is the Neutron 1A. The impression I take away as an old CPF flashaholic is that Thrunite is a rather popular production light for CPF members in general (although not as much as ZL, 47's, Eagletac, Sunwayman, etc.), and have a reputation for robust builds (although slightly higher QA issues than most IMO). They are very efficient lights with pretty good regulation, and run-times that usually rank w/the best and are usually driven a little harder than most, w/impressive outputs for the emitter type. You sometimes have a choice of tints as well. Not personally owning the lights you're interested in but looking into the specs at Thrunite's online store the Sabre 1A is a simple twisty switch w/the newest XP-G emitter...but rather odd spacing going from a usable moonlight .09L and a low of 9L...then from there jumping all the way up to 169L (?!) using std. AA or NiMH.

Other than the knock on spacing, I seem to remember a review on this light also hitting 300 lumens using 14500 Li-ions. Can't help you much with the TiS but they do sell a lot of their AAA lights to CPF members and seem quite popular.

Thrunite had their Flavor of the Month moment a couple of years back. Nothing special.

Well, I received the lights yesterday and initial impressions are that they are well made little lights. The TiS is nicely machined and aside from the lack of a good stand up surface on the tail, it is an excellent single mode AAA light. It is definitely brighter and more solid feeling than my Maglite LED Solitaire.The Saber is a great deal for what you get. I do think the low mode is a little too dim, but otherwise, I am very happy with both purchases so far.

araneae, thank you for the feedback. If you haven't done so already, try the firefly mode in a dark room after your eyes have adapted to the dark. I find that mode perfect for navigating around the family at night.
