Cleaning Copper off of Paramilitary 2 Black Coating

#1

Post by michael632 »

Hello,

I received a Paramilitary 2 with the black blade coating for Christmas yesterday. I noticed what I think are copper deposits from the rivets on my jeans on the blade today. What should I use to clean this?

Thanks,

They don't come off with soap, water and a rag?

The soap and water seems to have dulled the deposit (if it is that and not a scratch) but it didn't disappear completely. I figure that if it is a scratch though it doesn't matter since it's a knife, not a Ferrari.

Assuming the rivets are copper, there are gun cleaning solvents that are designed to strip copper fouling from the barrel/feed ramp of a firearm. That stuff is hard core and I'm sure it would remove the copper, but I'm not sure how it would affect the black finish of the blade. Hoppe's Bench Rest #9 comes to mind.

Hello,
I would suggest looking at the Slip 2000 copper killer product. Non toxic and all of their products are top notch.
Best....
