Brand New Spyderco fan!
Brand New Spyderco fan!
Hi all!
I'm a new Spyderco fan and brand new to the forum!
I have been a knife enthusiast for many years, but recently I have been looking into I guess what you can call "proper" knives; guess mainly because now I could actually afford them :D
..and yes, that's exactly how I got introduced to Spyderco!
and my first Spyderco? the mighty Delica4, which arrived in the mail yesterday! I absolutely love it
I can sense an addiction starting up; I'm already looking at other models; maybe the Manbug or the Dragonfly 2
So yea, new fan right here!

Welcome aboard, Leon!
Congrats on your Delica purchase. It's a wonderful EDC piece that will serve you well for many years with minimal need of upkeep. As for the durability of VG-10 steel, I'd say it seems to hold an edge for quite a long time when used under "normal" everyday cutting chores. A lot of it just depends on what type of material you are cutting. (E.g. You will need to sharpen it more frequently if cutting through coarse materials such as cardboard, etc.). Purchasing a Sharpmaker is very wise--especially if you plan on buying more Spydies :D . I've had mine for about ten or twelve years and it's still going strong. It's the best piece of sharpening equipment I own and its usefulness can be applied to many other edged tools too. Hope to see you around!
Take care,
Michael

Welcome to the forums Leon. Love you avatar BTW, terrific movie. Careful with your new addiction, even self-awareness doesn't slow the symptoms. The delica is a "gateway" knife that can lead to other more expensive "cravings". The good news is you are among like-minded (stricken) members here who can help (or not) you with you affliction.
