Endura SB tang rubbing on scale?

#1

Post by 9blades »

Good morning! I got my SB endura two days ago and I'm loving it! But last night I went to open it (before bed fondle *shrug*) and I felt the blade rub on the scale. upon closer inspection the tang was a little scratched up.

so I adjusted the pivot and made sure the body screws were tight and it didn't fix it. I also looked and both watchers are in place. At this point I don't have the slightest idea what to do. Oh, I should mention I bought it new and haven't taken it apart.

any suggestions are welcome, I don't think this really warrants warranty service (does it?). Here are some pictures.

Thank you!

It is normal IMO. Good knife, may she serve you well. Dont worry about it.

there might be some FRN sprue on the edges of the scales... you could probably scrape off...

I thought of that but it already looks like someone has beveled the inside of the FRN on that knife.

The problem (or rather cause) is that the washers are so thin, any amount of side flex will cause the blade to hit the liners. It's pretty much unavoidable with these knives.

Is the inside edge of the scale not usually chamfered? Anyway, a couple minutes ago I took a small pry bar (59 RC) and scraped away the portion of the FRN that was dark and it doesn't scrape anymore!

I guess I'll just never by another spyderco...well...once I have the domino, the upcoming super blue sprints, and the ZDP-189 calys...and...and...an...a.. ;)
