I have admired Spydercos for years. Handled a friend's Stainless Police and a girlfriend's Merlin, both top quality. Always liked the Mariner. Played with another friend's Delica. Not a bad one in the bunch. But all the knives that I really wanted to bring home were just out of reach. Think Newcastle taste on a RollingRock budget. I've been reading this board for a while now. I like hearing first-hand accounts from the people who use them and not just from the guy behind the counter who would like to sell me a new knife. I've also been enjoying the real sense of togetherness and unity I've seen here. It seems like there is a bond among Spydie people that others in the knife community don't share. I've been intrigued by the Salsa for a while, now. It looks like the right size, it's lefty friendly and it's not black. Don't get me wrong, it's just that I've been carrying a black knife for some ten years now. Time for change. I went to three knife shops before I got to handle the Salsa. It fit my hand better than the NativeII I was looking at. I was wondering what kind of reaction it gets from non-knife people. I'm looking for one knife that I can carry everywhere. As it stands now I take my Kershaw Chive to the office and my CRKT M-16-03Z everywhere else. So, does the Salsa make a good office friendly/ real life worker? Thanks for your time.

The Salsa should be a good choise for you.For myself I would go with a Navigator for a small sheeple knife.It is just easier for me to use.

I carry my Ti Salsa daily in my work environment. I know that this is more the newcastle budget, but it's a very nice knife. It's PE and works great for everything I've used it for. It even cut Watermelon at summer camp. It's gets no notice at work, but I'm also not using it constantly either. I'd consider it sheeple friendly. It also comes in 4 colors in aluminum, 3 of which are being discontinued.

I think it's more of a personal opinion, right? I mean, you felt the salsa and liked it, who can tell you otherwise? I'd imagine it'd be great for sheeple use.

Dragonfly's are pretty good too, you know. And cheap. Just a thought.

I think the Salsa would be quite useful around the typical office. It's nicely colored, a "non-threatening" blade shape (Whatever that is...<img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>), and is quite utilitarian in design.

Never underestimate the impossible.

I just received a grey Salsa today as a result of a trade. It is a great looking knife and although I would have rathered any other color than grey, it is still a good looking knife. I wouldn't say it is exactly sheeple frendly based on comments that I have received while carrying other knives. It is certainly better than my full size Calypso or the Military.

I wasn't sure how I would like the wire pocket clip. It seems to keep the knife as secure as any other clip I have but that is based on about three hours getting acquainted time.

I am definately glad I added the Salsa to my Spyde lineup.

I'd say for a good sheeple friendly, office and public blade, you might want to look closly at <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>cos smaller line.

Meerkat(2 styles), Cricket, Dragonfly, CoPilot, Navigator, Mouse, Jester, Salsa, Ladybug(2 styles)... just a start...

I have used my Tufram Cricket since March 2000, and my Stainless Steel Dragonfly since Aug 2001. Only got an odd look once from my 'fly... walking along with my friend, and I opened a bag of chips with it, and was putting it away before he realized I had it out.

My Dragonfly is enroute to Eric "Normark" for a neck rig... probably the best small <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0> you can get.

I haven't handled the Salsa yet, but it and the Lum Chinese are coming my way in a <img src="spyder.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>co passaround from BladeForums.com

If you like the feel of that model, that is most important. I've heard nothing but good things about the Salsa to date, and I think it should be a very "non-knife-people" friendly choice.

Definetly a good choice if that is the knife you have held and liked. If you are responsible and don't flash it around almost all knives are sheeple friendly. Just depends on if you want to explain yourself everytime you take it out. I don't have a Salsa but they look very impressive. I have handled one and it is a very good knife the few minutes I looked at it. Good luck and like everyone else has said you can't go wrong with a Spydie!
