I know, there is the clip... Hm, the fact is, I´ve lost more than one knife carrying it the "clip way".



The clip is OK if you don´t jump, climb rocks or run. IMO, it´s ok for urban carry. But otherwise, I would prefer a pouch or a sheath to my Spydies.

Hi dePaul. I will take that to heart. Perhaps it's time I design (or find) a sheath for our folding knives.

Anyone else feel the same?

I'd love to see a nice leather sheath for my spydercos. I'd like to see a tan leather with the bug logo embossed on it.

I carry most knives using a clip, but only because that is the norm these days and you really don't find many one hand openers that come with a sheath.

I agree with dePaul and crazy_horse.
Using a clip is correct in urban situation and can even be more pratical. But for hard jobs, or only for peace of mind (less risk of loss) using a sheath is best.
By the way, I would find great to have a Spyderco sheath for my beloved knives !!

A leather sheath or pouch is one more thing to hang off my belt. With a cell phone, holster for my sidearm, I have no place left to hang a sheath.

I would like to see a sheath also, but I would rather it for horizontal carry on a belt. This is the way I have carried all my knives over the years when they haven't been clipped to a pocket. I find it helps with concealment a bit, and it still allows for a nice, smooth draw. But don't get rid of the clip, just make sure it is tip down if I decide to put it in a pocket.

A sheath would be particularly nice for very active situations like climbing, canyoneering, biking, and water sports. To date I have lost two Spydercos by relying on the clip while trail running. Keeping your knife in your pack makes it safe, but very inconvinent. For hard outdoor use I would like to see a sheath material made of something waterproof, NOT leather. It would also be nice if it could be used for both neck and belt wear, it isn't always possible to wear a belt. Perhaps the belt attachment could be made of someting like thick overlapping velcro so that the sheath could be taken on and off without having to be threaded on. This would make it easy to attach it to pack straps or suspenders. The velcro would also give the user a little control over width and tightness. Thanks for considering the idea!

I often have customers who ask for a pouch to carry thier Spyderco.Some people just prefer to carry it that way.I'd definately be interested in quality nylon pouches designed to accept the Thumb hole ramp in the blade.

I think along the lines of practical, safe, and water resistant. Maybe a sheath out of carbon fiber pattern concealex by Eric Noeldechen (Normark) of On-Scene Tactical? His work with my fixed blades in multi-carry rigs has been outstanding. I'm sure he could do up a Spydie folder m-c rig that would make us all proud and happy.

I'm similar to tique, I prefer horizontal belt sheaths. I've been doing something a bit odd, using a couple of microtech sheaths -- LCC sheath for larger knives like the starmate and military, and a mini-socom sheath for a stainless rookie. I can't always close the sheaths, but they still ride quite securely, and they are much less noticeable. They seem to be made out of nylon (with a softer lining?), which is fairly durable, flexible and low profile.

My primary concern is concealability and ready access, not weather-proofing or extreme retention. Oh, and I kept scratching up the furniture with the clips when they were clipped in my pocket...

The MT sheaths work fairly well for some spydercos, but I'd obviously prefer something more specific to the actual knife. And some of my knives (particularly the chinook) don't work with them at all.

I recently saw a kydex sheath for the Gunting. Any such sheaths for the Starmate?

I'd love a sheath, too. I carry your FB01 Moran on my toolbelt everyday, horizontally on my front left. Being right-handed, I just reach across, and pull it out.

But there are circumstances here in Kalifornia, as well when active, were I'd rather carry a folding knife, and would love to have it in front of me, horizontally on my belt, rather then stuck in my back pocket. I'd use the same motion I use ay work all day (as a low voltage electrician).

And I could see usefullness for "pocket pouches" as well, allowing one to carry (or pack) folding knives with those tearing metal clips :-) without undue wear to your pocketses... (gollum!).

I think a sturdy Cordura (Nylon) sheath that could be carried IWB, verticle, or horizontal, that would have the Spyderco logo would be GREAT.

I'm with glockman99. A cordura sheath with the spyderco logo would be great. Especially with a variety of attachment options (horizontal, vertical)

I'm with glockman99 & Psychmajor, a cordura or maybe ballistics sheath for horizontal carry would be great. For one thing, if you're like me and engage in alot of camping, climbing etc. Having sheaths would allow for carrying more than one spydie. I once lost my knife while on a camping trip and therefore was knifeless for the rest of the trip...it was a real pain in the butt. Just a thought.

I agree - a cordura sheath with the option to carry horizontally or vertically.
But please make sure that it is made available to us poor people in the UK who don't have the fantastic choices of Spydercos available to you US nuts, and have to pay silly prices for them!

Yes, a Cordura sheath, black with Spyderco logo. Two sizes would probably fit all knives, large and small. refer to the 32 Pocket Spyder Pac for an example of quality components and construction. (Spyder Pac currently for sale at factory store, Spyderco Online Catalog: Accessories)

A belt pouch would be great. Especially if it has the "bug" embroidered on the flap. Three sizes would cover all sizes from smallest to largest.
