Finally poured a glass of liquid courage and took on the job. All went well other than one crimped bronze washer on the "leftover". I now have a TI RIL with brown scale and CTS XHP blade. Weight was the reason. Standard Mili is 4.2 to 4.4. TI is 5.9, the RIL/brown is 5.1.

Thank you sir. I was thinking about using an orange scale from my other Mili but decided to leave it as is. Most credit for the swap should go to Spyderco who have such close tolerances that the above switch is possible without adjustment, filing or polishing to get things to fit.

I figured the one remaining light weight would be best all orange rather than orange and brown.

A word of warning to anyone trying this mod. The pivot pin is "flatted" to index against the tightening screw. There is an index in the liner lock insert which is 180 out from the one in the ti side. The ti side provides plenty of index so I rounded the hole in the insert. This may affect future use of this scale with the original one. Also, the lock up when set up properly is minimal on the LL and past 50% on the RIL if that makes any difference to you.

Kudos to you sir, extremely awesome. Now those truly are dual-wield worthy!

nice. hardly ultimate, considering the superior cpm m4 blades being on ti/g10 frames.

:) For my purposes S30V works just fine so the new FrankenMili is really ultimate for me. Been playing with them today and I actually prefer the liner lock right now. Traditional Mili marvelousness with an extra half ounce to make it feel more secure. I felt the all titanium went a bit too far in that regard. It felt too heavy to me.
