HHey there VW,

FNG is an acronym for Farghing New Guy. We used it a lot in Viet Nam to describe the troops that were fresh from "The World". They usually remained the FNG 'till some other FNG reported in. Old grunts could often be identified by the "Thousand Yard Stare" a seasoned combat veteran developed after several patrols in country.

S-K: Last I checked, there was a 44% chance of greeble on Freerhfs this week, but the chances of zmxqwfb on Thahsk is fairly low. <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle border=0>

Al,

Never stationed in-country. Based at Taklhi and Korat AB, Thailand, May '74 to May '75. Flew ARFCOS missions into the Central Highlands and the rest of 'Nam. War was supposedly over but couldn't tell that from the holes in our airframes we got from small arms fire. But that's another story.....

VW,

Thanks for the memory jog. Suppose they were afraid of becoming "fragged" if they set foot on the battlefield. We also had ROAD (Retired On Active Duty) and "LIFER" (Lazy Inefficient Forker Expecting Retirement)

Welcome again Ratman. Sorry I "hijacked" the thread a bit.
