What is your most prized possession?

#1

Post by Evil D »

We're all a bit materialistic, or we wouldn't be on a forum like this. Of all your worldly possessions, what is the most important, most sentimental, most dear to your heart item that you could never part with?

For me, it's an elongated penny that my grandfather cranked at a state fair in the early '80s. He gave it to my mother, who gave it to me about 13 years ago or so. I wear it on a 14k gold rope that she also gave me. I will one day hand this down to my son (when I can bring myself to part with it ;) )

Probably the house I finished building last year. I dunno if most prized means most valuable though. I don't really have anything that has much sentimental value to me or alternatively, I'm not sentimental. :)

Wow. I've never really thought about it.

I guess I don't have one.

Definitely talking about material possessions...kids/family/friends always come above everything.

I would have to agree though, 2nd on my list would be my Mustang.

An old pocket watch my father gave me twenty years ago. I don't use it much and it's tucked away in a drawer but if it were ever to go missing it would destroy me.

I have to agree with Tony, family is first and foremost. Regarding the inanimate, it would have to be my bike.

I would have to go with the watch my grandfather bequeathed to me. It's made of platinum. My grandfather was not a rich man - I wish I knew more about the story behind it. Probably got it shortly after his return from WWII. He was an engineer with the Army, and the most practically brilliant man I think I ever knew. Always inventing and making things when he was younger, and older, he taught me to play chess and how to get around a Commodore computer (those were his fave). I know that I take after him in some ways and hope that in time, I will be able to honor his legacy.

After that, probably some of my knives ;)

At first I drew a blank. Then remembered my gold crucifix and the heavy gold chain bought for it separately by my parents, and given to me. The gold and black onyx ring that my mother gave me for graduating from High School with excellent grades, is a very close 2nd.

I drew a blank at first because I see both about once or twice a year. If the world wasn't flooded with worthless scumbags, I'd actually consider wearing both when out & about in public.

I haven't really thought about it either.

Sorry for the odd answers... My dad's ashes?... I'm not religious but a Rosary given to me by my departed aunt who was a nun...

As far materialistic things, maybe a Tag Heuer watch I've owned half my life. Does a porn collection count? Hope the wife never finds my ext HD, pretty valuable LMAO.

Ok TMI on this post WTHeck!

A silver and gold Rosary plus a separate cross in Silver that was inherited to me from my Mother. She got it from her mother, who got it from hers back in Italy going back no one knows how many generations. They are probably middle 1800's, not terribly expensive then or now but very highly valued by their owners now including me. No amount of money could get me to release them. They are going to my son, or maybe grandchildren some day. It depends on who would appreciate them the most.

I have a silver handmade chain with Celtic cross my now ex brought me over from Ireland where it was made when she came over for the marriage after going home while I went back to the states on a PCS move, bought a car, got an apartment etc. I've only taken it off for X rays, MRE's, and Surgeries. My son gets it. Almost 35 years now.

Lastly a pendant of the Arch Angel Michael with his lance, the serpent at his feet. My son has asked for it however it was the wrong time. Hopefully later.

Finn, well he isn't a possession. He's family as much as my son is.

The most prized posession that I have is liberty.

The most prized material object I have are my tools.
