Lum Tanto Sprint Quick Review. Pic HEAVY

#1

Post by VashHash »

So my Lum tanto Fixed blade arrived today. Needless to say i was very pleased with it. Sharp out of the box and perfect if you ask me. The blade was smaller than I expected not so much in length but in width. It's a thick stock but I thought it would be wider from edge to spine. It fits my hand pretty well and I consider it a nice small fixed blade for EDC which is the role this one will play. I can't not carry such a beautiful knife. The fact that it comes with a leather sheath makes it that much better for me. I love my Bill Moran with the leather sheath and mirror polish (also pictured below). I think it would also make a nice dress knife. The paperstone scales are very nicely polished so much so the pins are mirror polished. I'm guessing this was more a side effect than intentional in the process to get the paperstone so smooth. I love the tapered tang it really helps to keep the knife balanced. If you hold one in your hand and really see the blade stock you'll understand why this is necessary for balance. My only real gripe is the sheath is set up for vertical carry. I was really hoping it would be set up like the Moran leather sheath with more of a diagonal/horizontal carry. I think I'll remedy this with an adapter plate and either a tek-lok or G-clip. Well as much as I'm sure you're enjoying this read I think it's time for what everyone really wants to see. The Lum tanto in the wild.

That's a sweet-looking blade to be sure! I hope to get one at some point in the near future. (I have an anniversary coming up in July... :D )

Very nice!! It's smaller than I thought it would've been. I was thinking bigger than a Millie but its not much bigger than a PM2.

Yeah I thought it would be bigger also.

Thanks for the size comparisons.

I was thinking it bigger also, but it's really a beautiful knife!
Love the blade shape: it's a tanto blade, but reminds me more a short japanese katana than a military-tactical blade.
Thank you for the detailed description and the size comparison pictures!

Thank you for review and pictures. Beautiful blade. I can only wish that Spyderco would keep micarta as a handle material.

I'd like to see more micarta too. But the paperstone is a welcome change from G-10. It'll be a long wait for the mailman today!

What a beautiful piece, but not for me; my budget is limited to future users I really want. Congrats on a wonderful knife!
