What would you commission? Sprint Run

#1

Post by akaAK »

Credit to Chopping Brocoli's thread on this idea but if you won the lottery (apologies to the independantly wealthy among us) and could commission a sprint run what would it be.

Mine would be:

1. Para 2 with S90V and Natural G10 liners (not skelatonized). Original Para 1 clip. CE, SE and PE options
2. Manix 2 with CTS 20cp and Navy G10 scales, all jimping removed except the thumb ramp. CE, SE and PE options
3. Delica 4, Grey G10, full steel liners.

Would they sell, who knows.

Whats yours.

Delica 4, newly designed FRN scales with full steel liners and full steel spacers...foliage green and black colors.

Pro-Grip, again with newly designed FRN scales, full steel liners and back spacers...black and foliage green.

Lum Chinese with a back lock, and black Gabon ebony scales.

Lum Chinese fixed blade with G-10 and FRN scales.

CARBON FIBER EVERYTHING!

Probably a CF Para-2, in a decent workhorse non-super steel. Something reasonably tough and easy to sharpen - not a laser-edged, super high RC hardness supersteel.
◊ Manix 2 XL ◊ Manix 2 lightweight blue ◊ Caly 3 carbon fiber ◊ Caly 3 damascus / CF ◊ Lum Chinese Nishijin ◊ Sage 1 ◊ Superleaf
◊ Dragonfly FRN serrated ◊ Endura Gen 1 ◊ Rescue Gen 1 ◊ Endura 4 FFG ◊ Delica 4 half serrated ◊ Mule Team ◊ Spin ◊ Bushcraft UK
◊ S110V Forum Native 5 ◊ Black Nishijin Cricket

[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Top 5 most wanted: Domino, Dice, CF Para-2, CF Cricket. Seeing a theme here?

Para 2. Full Titanium liners with lightning strike carbon fiber. Tip end of blade cpm m4 , for finer cutting tasks to hold a fine edge longer and have tip toughness. Back half of blade s110v for greater wear resistance for main cutting tasks, while having the hardness be relatively the same as the m4. Moku tai(?) Clip, right hand tip up only. Bearing system, and steel compression lock face.

You cannot commission sprint. Sprints belong to Spyderco, so it should be exclusive.
If I would hit lottery I would get few custom knives. Why would I want to gamble in the area, where I do not have expertise?

Yeah we are pretty lucky that Spyderco seems to be aware of what their ELU's want. I don't remeber but are these sprints going to be laminated? Probably help with corrosion resistance.

I would buy this in SE, so you already have one less to sell :)

Leaving aside the semantics ;) :) I'd suggest:

1. realistic nomination: Para2 with CPM-M4 blade and G10 scales (color? not sure - maybe the tan)
2. pie-in-the-sky nomination: Para2 with S110V blade and a titanium integral or "framelock" (yeah, I know, it isn't) version of the lock

Hmmmmm.

How about a re-release of the original Terzuola Sr. and Terzuola Jr. with titanium scales (replacing the original aluminum) and M4 blades.
