Black Blade Para 2 Stain

#1

Post by paychekk »

Today at work I carved the peel on a orange with my para 2 and to my surprise I could not clean the citrus acid from the peel. It stained the black coating on the blade. Any one else have this problem. What can I use to clean the blade without damaging the black coating.

That is a drag, it may have eaten into the coating a bit, have you tried just wiping it down with wd40?

I have had a Military DLC for a couple years and have done quite a bit of cutting, (never an orange
though) and teh black looks the same as when I bought it. I don't think that you can damage it,
unless you take a course paper to it. I just wash mine with soapy water and rub it pretty hard.

I have had marks on it that I thought was a scratch, but it ended up cleaning off. The best of luck
to you.

What you're seeing is a moistened area on the dlc. If you rub an orange all over the surface it'll all darken and look the same and eventually dry out.

I have a black Manix, and some parts of the blade are darker than others... I actually think it came that way. It just reminds me that I have to use it more. :)

I don't think the DLC coating is damaged, either. Evil is right - what you are seeing is oil or moisture on the surface of the coating. A quick wipe with alcohol, WD-40, mineral oil, windex, or plain ole' water will probably take care of it and make it look like new.

I haven't found anything short of a tough abrasive that will damage the DLC...
