First Spyderco in a long time.

#1

Post by VoodooSan »

Im new to the forum here but not new to knives. I wont go into the whole back story but I remember my first Spyderco but sadly I cant remember the model. I think I was 19 but it got stolen. Had a couple others and I only have one Spyderco in my collection. Again dont know the model but it has a spring clip for attaching it to whatever. I used the **** out of that knife too. Anyway I wanted a new Spyderco.

I looked at a lot and decided on the Yojimbo 2 as I like the wharcliffe blade style. I am hoping it arrives today. Never used the compression lock but I hear its strong. Despite reading that some didnt care for the handle and that the hole is a little smaller and not as easy to get to the knife still appeals to me. I will be sure to let you know when I get it.

The next Spyderco I want is either a Delica or Endura but having trouble deciding. I also want a Manbug just because I think its a cool small knife.

Looking forward to getting the YO2. But I know how I am. If I end up liking the quality and the overall knife Im going to have to buy at least several more Spydercos. Tomorrow is my birthday so this was my present to my self.......and the next two I order I will just lump in there too :P

the name of your first spyderco was probably the C26 "snap-it" or the C30 "remote release"...
welcome to the forums.

Welcome VoodooSan. I have modified my Yo2, but thay is just my personal preference.
Evil D did the same, but other than us two, I really haven't heard of anyone with any issues.
I have two, one as a dedicated Self Defense knife that I carry at the office and never use.
I have another that I carry at home on the farm and use it for any and everything.

Other than wear marks on the clip and my resharpening not being as good as the original,
you can't tell the two apart.

I have probably 3 of each Delica's and Endura's and they are equally good knives. The
Endura has the slightly bigger blade and handle.

Happy birthday.

Welcome! The yo2 is a great knife! For your next choice, it really a matter of size the endura is larger and the delica smaller obviously but both are very similar and also great knives. I own a gray frn ffg model and the vg 10 is great steel!

Yeah I will order a Delica or an Endura this week along with a Manbug. I want that little knife really bad for some reason.

And I just checked and my YO2 is out for delivery!

Happy Birthday Voodoo and Welcome

I just picked up a Yo2 and It is my smoothest out of the box spydie by far.
Great knife. I prefer the Delica only because of its smaller size but can't go wrong either way.

You may also consider the Jason Breeden Rescue, its alittle different but I just love this knife, and it is no longer being produced. Just a little side note.

Hope your Yo2 comes soon. :)

I've got a Yojimbo 2!
Really like it!
Only thing that didn't sit well with me was the sharpness of the grip, but I lightly sanded the them down with sandpaper and it feels perfect now

Welcome back to the fold. Spyderco is something it is very hard to get away from once you've started.

Thanks for the response folks. Just got my knife. It's awesome. Fit and finish is great, blade is perfectly centered, no loose clip, and smooth as butter. Never had a compression lock before and I notice the lock engages early but seems secure. I'm so screwed now....already going to order my next two.

After getting the Para Military 2 and Yojimbo, I find that I like the compression
lock better than any others. It's easy to open and close one handed. I llike to
pull out, cut and return with one hand and the compression lock is great and
you don't get your finger in the way of the closing blade.

I am waiting on the Military 2 with a compression lock someday, that would be
as good as it gets for me. Along with a CF Yo2.

Today is My Birthday as well. I started back to Spyderco with the Yo2. Great design. It's a great SD knife as well as EDC.

Happy Birthday Mark. I had a YO2 and it is an awesome knife, for many reasons and uses :)
Lately, I've been EDC a sweet little Delica in British Racing Green...ZDP189 steel. What a razor!
Good to see you here!

Modding aside, I don't think the Yo 2's "issues" are bad enough that the average person can't happily live with them. It's just that they are very easy to remedy if you're comfortable with a Dremel.

Oh and Happy Birthday guys!
