Any Manix2 Owners w/ Small Hands?

#1

Post by wolfgaze »

I was wondering if any of you Manix 2 owners have small hands like I do. I was considering buying this knife. Unfortunately none of my local Spyderco dealers have this model in stock so I am unable to sample it in person.

I have small hands. The mid-point of my palm is just 3.5 inches across, my 4 fingers held together are just under 3 inches across. One concern I had about this knife was the size/length of the handle.

Wanted to know if any of you folks with small hands had any issues with your grip on this particular model or found it to be a viable concern/issue. Looking for some feedback as to whether or not I should shy away from this model for this reason.

Thanks for your time.

Cheers

Well, my guess is it would be fine but my hands are over an inch larger on each dimension you list so... ;)

I believe my hands are that big; I'm informally measuring with a cell phone ruler app. I've yet to feel any Spydie too big but my largest frame is the Superhawk.

Personally I find the Manix2 very comfortable to hold. It's a tad bulky compared to a Delica but the choil and thumb ramp give a great grip.

Our hands measure pretty close in size. I have no problems handling a Manix2 - I actually bought a couple of variants because I liked it so much. So, no, I don't think your hand size will be a problem with this model.

I think my hands measure close to yours. I will try to get you some pictures at some point. Manix 2 fits my hand very well.

Seriously? A ruler has been replaced by an app? We're doomed as a species! ;)

I'm not crazy about the "finger separator", I prefer the Stretch/Rescue style handle, but the Manix 2 fits my hand well, and I take a men's small glove. Couple shots of it in my hand...

Wow thanks for the prompt/helpful replies... You guys are going to cause me to order one of those blacked out Manix 2's while I'm waiting on my Native 5 back order to get filled! : )

I'm new to carrying pocket/folding knives... Just started this year. I currently own a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian (black on black, D2 steel) and the Spyderco Manbug and Stainless Steel handle Ladybug. Those mini Spyderco's are great little knives. I liked them so much I picked up an extra Manbug to keep as a back-up in case I lose the first one (lol!) and sent some Stainless Steel handle Lady Bugs to friends & family as gifts...

It's pretty much limited by screen size. The archaic version is not afraid ;)

I still use the ruler on my leatherman, but I have the SAK App for my Droid as well. I like it for an angle guide, but that's about it.

Hey Wolfgaze,
I have girly hands, and the measurements you posted pretty much correspond to my hand dimensions.

Here's some pics of the blue lightweight in hand.

My hands aren't much bigger, and I also find the Manix 2 very comfortable to use.

Thanks for the photos SharpGuitarist and the additional replies from everyone else. You folks are awesome.

Based on your feedback I placed my order for an all black Manix 2 a little while ago and I'm confident I won't be disappointed!

My hands are pretty small, and I own a manix2 XL and my buddy has a manix2 and they both are very comfortable in the hand and awesome knives.
So many spydies, not enough pockets.

Our hands are pretty much the same size. I find the Manix 2 to be very comfortable. It's just too bad that I broke the cage on my 154CM version. At least I still have my BD30P sprint.

I don't go around measuring parts and what-not, but I do know that the Manix feels
great in the hands. There are hand guns that feels good to two different people with
different sized hands.

I have a Walther P-22 and my hands are bigger than the wifes' or the boys' hands.
Yet we all say that it has a great feel to it. It isn't too big for my son or too small for
mine. It is similar with certain knives, it depends how you make the grip. just my opinion.

You won't be disappointed with the Manix 2, even with small hands.
I have small hands and am not disappointed, :) I just don't carry it much.
