I would like to get a that would be a good EDC. I want it to have a G-10 handle, tip-up carry, and a blade length around 3 inches. I am considering the Blackhawk but it is tip down carry and I really prefer tip up, although I have never had a tip down . Does anyone have any good ideas on this one?

Spydieman,

If you want G-10, it's going to be a tip-down knife. I'd recommend the C05 Standard, C49 Wegner Jr., C25 Centofante or C51 Rookie - in that order.

They are all discontinued, so tracking one down may be somewhat difficult.
Good luck on your search!

Get over to knifecenter.com, they had a few G-10 Centofantes and mini Wegners last I looked.

Never underestimate the impossible.

Spydieman,
Maybe you could look at the Lil' Temperence. I have. It is a 3" blade, Green G-10, Tip-up or tip-down, not discontinued. With a calypso Jr. Style leaf blade. Sounds like it's a very solid knife with the compression lock.
It may be my next purchase, as long as no new Q's rear their heads

Without a doubt, I'll tell you to get yourself a Native Inlay. JJ has them on his site for $80 Smack-a-roos. What a knife!! Just do it...

Natives rock

Blades - I have a Lum folder, my first and only G-10. I love it but I don't like it for EDC. I use a sharp tip too often, and although I have carried the Lum about every day since I got it, I tend to use my Native for most tasks.

Jeff - If you could, I want to know more about these Native Inlays. This sounds very interesting and may be exactly what I want. Do you have a link to his site?

103 here: My sig is a quote by J Smith.

The Inlay Natives were made in a series of 500 PE (Blue M.O.T. Inlay in a black G-10 Handle) and 500 PS (Root beer M.O.T. inlay in a black G-10 Handle). The CPM 440V blade has the serial number etched on there-My PE EDC is "302 of 500". Also, " Golden, Colorado, USA, Earth", and finally,"Spyderco CMP 440V" are all etched into the blade.

This Native has the G-10, so it has a hefty feel somewhere between the FRN and SS handle's feel. The blade is ever-so-sharp, and stays that way. The action is smooth, and the fit-up on the back bone is perfect.

The site is here:
http://www.johnfjensen.com/spyderco.html

This knife was retailed @ $132.00 and is selling for way less-$80.00. What a bargain for such a great tool and collectable.

The clip is flat black. The knife balances perfectly right in the center of the finger groove. It also has cross groove serrations on the top of the blade just back of the hole location; giving one a temendous thumb grip. It will do the spydie drop real well, and flicks open with a resounding CLICK when thumbed-open in a single motion.

I keep mine on my belt 24/7 in a medium sized Gerber knife pouch. These are great stealth pouches. Black Ballistic Nylon and you never know it is there. It is ready when you need it-always.

What else can I say...Oh Yeah in case you are wondering about the inlay material, it is plastic. "M.O.T." is mother of toilet seat...Fake celuloid, or fake Agat.Looks great too.
