Pass Around

#1

Post by aero_student »

I was reading over at the bladeforum spyderco section. I came across a pretty cool thing that some of them did. They passed around a green pe salsa. Each member of the experiment had it about 2 weeks and wrote a review in the journal that was sent along with it as well as the forum. I would like to propose that we do somehting similar here. We need some benevalent forum member to volunteer a blade that say 10 of us have not experienced and would like to do so. Maybe something like the gunting, lum tanto, shbaria, massad, etc.

that would be very cool.

although, I do like my current EDC very much. I don't plan on changing it.

I would certainly be willing to donate a blade if the inexperienced type (not that I'm experienced) want to try anything out.

But I only have lower order productions. I only have Native II and a FRN dragonfly, SE. If someone wants to try either of these out, well, I'm fine with it.

the only blade that I would want to try out is the moran fixed blade.

but cool idea.

An excellent idea, IMO. I was thinking some time ago how cool would it be to have a knife for a week or so, just to try the ergonomics, the overall feeling, the finishings aso.
Particularily the Gunting I have in mind, as it strangely fascinates me. (Only from what I read about it, as I never actually had one in my hand )

Well, the idea is great, but unfortunately, can't work on me. You see, the package would take about 3 ÷ 4 weeks to arrive, another 1 or 2 weeks to test it and another 3 ÷ 4 weeks to reach the other tester. So it would take about two months, which is obviously too much

The Salsa pass-around is making it's way to Canada. Check out the BladeForums link below for info.

I'm looking forward to giving it a test drive

Maybe Spyderco might be interested in this and could offer the blade. My choice would be the Millie, b/c thats what I want, but other, more exotic knives, would be better suited to this type of project.
