ZDP-189 Enuff

#1

Post by Spidey »

I love the Enuff series (leaf for me) but I didn't get one because to me I think it's too much for what it is but since I heard some H-1 Enuff would be produced someday, I figured why not suggest it: I would have no problem dishing out the cash if that was made in ZDP-189, especially I missed the ZDP-189 Mule and now it's gone forever :(

Wouldn't it look wicked in British Green Racing Green?

I'm waiting for the SE H1 Sheepsfoot Enuff. Getting a second one in ZDP-189 doesn't really appeal to me.
There will definitely be people who think that 4mm stock and ZDP are a silly mix. If a ZDP Enuff were to be offered in 2mm FFG, I bet it would be much more popular.

I was thinking the same thing.

Me too. ZDP-189 or a different premium steel with thinner stock and I'd get one.

What's wrong with a thick-ish stock may I ask?

It's not like we're talking quarter inch.

It's a matter of scale. Given a blade that small and the things you're going(able) to do with it, 4mm is nuts. Crazy overkill unless you're using it to open paint cans. 2mm is more than enough and will slice a lot better. I just got a similar sized knife in 3/32" O-1 and it's plenty thick. 1/16" would be enough. That's what, 1.5mm? Now we're talking about a cutting tool.

Yes PLEASE! Yes, 4mm is a bit thick. But I would kill for a small little fixed blade like this flat ground in ZDP. BRG or with some custom scales maybe? That said, I already feel like the Enuff is a bit overpriced (honestly I feel like it should be priced more like the Delica, a comparably-sized blade (albeit 1.5mm thinner) with even more parts. I guess the whole bladestock is solid VG-10 which drives the price up, though.
I'm happiest with Micarta and Tool Steel.

Top four in rotation: K390 + GCM PM2, ZCarta Shaman, Crucarta PM2, K390 + GCM Straight Spine Stretch.

I would vote for something tougher, or not as brittle. A tool steel or high carbon or Elmax

4mm screams for lateral force resistance, ZDP-189 doesn`t.
I absolutely love the idea of a leaf-shaped, short bladed Jumpmaster equivalent in H1 but ZDP being somewhat prone to corrosion and brittleness works fine in slim blade folders, I can`t imagine taking it out for a trip in a FRN sheath.
Generally I wanted to raise an idea into public asking for a kind-of-bushcraft H1 knife as it provides a corrosion-free, easy to sharpen edge. Well, the upcoming Enuff H1 will be the answer to the never posted question :)

Enuff in ZDP? Not for me.
