My 1st year in review

#1

Post by GTPowers »

I was inspired others today to also share my "haul" of knives from my first year of Spyderco ownership.

From the top:
Schempp Rock VG-10
Manix2 154CM
Mule Team 16 CTS-XHP
Delica 4 VG-10
Techno CTS-XHP
Ladybug H1 SE Hawkbill
Ladybug VG-10

My very first Spyderco was my Manix2. This beast served me well during the summer and fall until it took a 7 foot dive off a produce shelf and landed butt down only to flip and nick the tip. This has always been my favorite knife to carry for the lock. These days it rides in my briefcase as a backup.

Second knife was my green Delica4. This was a 3rd year anniversary gift from my wife. This knife is a constant reminder of my wonderful wife. It rides in the pocket of my Filson coat.

Third knife isn't pictured but is a Sprint run Tenacious combo edge in Green. Budget knife with serious useability. The combo edge ate alive nine garbage bags full of massively thick cardboard. Long live SE!

Fourth (and fifth) knives were the H1 Ladybug and a 440c Cat for my wife. She is a 2nd grade teacher on the southside of Chicago in one of the most violent neighborhoods, Englewood. She has since lost the Cat, which made me sad (need to replace that little guy) and carried the H1 for many months before hiding it in the kitchen. Couldn't tell you why.

Fifth was the Rock and grey LB. I love the Rock! Yard and camping knife. One of THE BEST ergos I've held. Also fits my post-apoco. dream knife.

Sixth and seventh were the two CTS-XHP. I use the Techno as an EDC. Yes. EDC. This little fat freak is used day in day out as my work knife in receiving dock I manage. The Mule is our kitchen knife. It looks patina-ed in this shot but I think that is just cheese smear.

Thanks for looking! And, Sal/others, if you're reading this, thank you such much for leading and running such an outstanding company!

Cheers,
GT

Dreaming of a PM2 or something with a compression lock and defiantly looking to grade one of the newest incarnations of the Manix2.

Nice collection. It's funny seeing the Rock next to the Ladybug. That chip on the Manix tip is very easy to fix.

I've been wondering about that. Any chance I can do it on the Sharpmaker?

I'm sure you can but it'll take a bit more work to get it done unless you have the diamond rods/stones.

Definitely a nice assortment. Crying out for a Military.
Our reason is quite satisfied, in 999 cases out of every 1000 of us, if we can find a few arguments that will do to recite in case our credulity is criticized by someone else. Our faith is faith in someone else's faith, and in the greatest matters this is most the case.

Nice! The basic Manix 2 was my first spyderco too. Got one for my best man at my wedding, engraved and everything and he managed to break the tip off too. He broke far more than you did tho, I think you could send that in for a fix from Spyderco for a reasonable price.

I have broken the tip off of my White Goddard Jr sprint a few times. (Tip down tempts me to spyder drop and the light handle makes it difficult to do AND hold onto.) I can tell you, it seems much easier to take some steel off of the spine than it is to take it off of the edge.

nice collection, for the tip, i saw a yt video of a guy who put sandpaper of his sharpmaker rods and it allowed him to reprofile knives with ease.

You have a nice variety. The Schempp Rock looks awesome taking up all
of that space in the picture.

Nice, dude! The Manix 2 was what really got me hooked, too. I'm longing for that Techno... hoping to put it in my 2013 acquisitions ;)
