Curious why Amsterdam. I mean, I'm sure it's a wonderful city, don't get me wrong, but why does a Colo.-based company have its annual big meet-up in Amsterdam? I'm sure there must be a reason not obviou to me.

I should imagine the geography and the amount of links within the transport network are big factors for a European show meet , it's possible to be in Brussels from Kent in England then onto Amsterdam even though you have to back up on yourself quicker than driving to an airport and flying using Eurostar trains.
That and the fact it's a great city I know it has a hedonistic reputation but there are many museums and other attractions that make it a good family destination too.
If you don't want to see the seedy side then unless you look for it its very subtle I suspect if the spyderco team had a few European venues to visit then onto the uk geographically it is perfect.
And the Dutch speak perfect English too so that helps I have been all around Europe and find the Dutch to be closest to the British and us society than other eu countries.

indeed, it is as simple as that. spyderco visits amsterdam before heading to nurnberg in germany for the iwa show, they've been doing that since the mid 90's i believe.

Mercure Amsterdam Airport Hotel, Oude Haagweg 20, 1066 BW Amsterdam.
is incorrect
it should be
Mercure Amsterdam Airport Hotel, Oude Haagseweg 20, 1066 BW Amsterdam.
so Oude Haagseweg 20 instead of Oude Haagweg 20
according to mecure's website

I do not mind Amsterdam, but can it be at least once in a while Amsterdam, NY? :)

Amsterdam is one of my favorite cities on the face of the earth. Culture, history, architecture, art, recreation - its all there. And the people are some of the friendliest I've ever encountered in a large metropolitan area. To be honest, I like doing the tourist thing in the summer months rather than early March.

Have fun, guys!

Sadly the closest that I will get to this fine city, personally, is the vicarious high I get from Wouter's picture montage after the meet. I am pretty stoked about this and look forward to it every year.
