I apologize right off the bat if there's already a thread about this. I have recently rekindled my love of Spydercos, and am looking to get a new one. I am looking for a nice work EDC, and where i work doesn't encourage large flashy knives (my favorites lol). So I've been looking at the Manix lightweight and the Native 1. I was wondering which knife would be a better value, and i figured all the cool folks on the forums would have opinions :D And considering that I am a man, would I be ridiculed for purchasing the pink Native? :p Thanks for the help!

I just purchased the manix lightweight and love it. The finger choil on the manix is very comfortable.

Manix for sure. One of my favorite knives from spyderco.

Nothing unmanly about Tactical Pink.

Hmm. If those are the only two choices... I'd go with the Manix. Expanding out a bit, the Stretch, or even a Dragonfly if larger knives are an issue at your work.

Centofante 3 or 4. Light thin, NKP friendly.

Thank you all :) I have looked at the Centofante, but in my mind deemed the blade too thin lol. I was also trying to keep the cost of the knife at the lower end of the price range. And I like the way you phrased that: "Tactical Pink"

Those are both kind of big.

Here's what I like to do. I carry a largeish blade in my front right pocket, then I also carry one of the following in my right rear pocket: Squeak, Chaparral, Dragonfly.

95% of the time I use the small knife in my right rear pocket.

I'm thinking a Salt 1. Very light and tough. Manix seems a bit big for NKP.

I love my manix but people are correct it is a very large knife. I don't have a large collection but I can send you a picture of manix with a dragonfly with a squeak and a salt 1 if it helps.

Air. It's perfect.

I do like the air, but like I said I have a very limited budget. the most I would want to spend is $70, which is why I was looking at the Manix and the Native. And to me, a knife with a 4 inch blade is the perfect size. so the native and the Manix seem a little small to me :D So the Dragonfly is a knife I would probably only have at a formal occasion. I'm just weird like that :rolleyes:

A good friend of mine just took over a 1SG position in USASOC. Her husband (retired SF) had custom Pink scales made for her Spydie Mili...there ain't nothing wrong with a Pink knife, my friend. Nothing at all.

The manix is nice though I can't recommend it because I have no experiences with it.
A delica or endura are nice knives for the money. Strong, light, easy to sharpen, your choice of steel (VG-10 or ZDP-189), different FRN colors......etc

For me a 4" blade in a folder is rather large :eek: :) In the >$100 category I would suggest the Endura. :)

Agreed with Nederspyder, the Air is fantastic and weighs as much as a L'Bug :)

+3 on the Cento :) Don't let the 2mm thick blade scare you away :) Very tough, light, and the price is right :D

salt 1; ukpk (one for every outfit )

If you want lightweight and are on a budget I'd go with the Centofante III

I had a Native 3 in the past and really enjoyed it. I only have the big C-95 Manix so I can't really speak about the lightweight.

I like to carry a saber ground Delica for a small work knife.
