SpyderSpree?

#1

Post by Ninja »

how many of you have gone on a "SpyderSpree"? Where you just went out and spend boatloads (or not) of money just buying anything spyderco? What did you buy and how long was your spree? Ill start. I just recently bought a delica wave (black), a sprint run Meerkat (burgundy), a black dodo, an orange dodo, a "Q" and a sharpmaker. I purchased these all in the span of about 2 days. Now its your turn :)

This past February 2012 I got a chunk of change and went bunkers and spent until it really hurt :D In one week I got both of the Original R knives SE & PE, An XHP Military, Brown Sprint Matriarch, A CF Zowada, An H-1 Catcherman, >>> I also got a Duckfoot, Goldenstone and 2 extra 701 Profile sets. I also bought 2 ZDP Delicas but both of them were sold to my boss and another friend I work with.

But it sure felt good while it lasted ;) The **** with real estate, stocks & bonds and mutual funds. I'll do my investing in Spyders and other collectible knives any day of the week.

Nope. I go at it with a methodical hunter/pray approach. I quietly stalk my pray over long periods of time, study their movement and routines, and just when they're not expecting it i try to catch them on sale and then strike with the full force of my wallet.

One spyder a week for about a year. And it was sure tiresome trying to catch the mail man before the wife did.

I am a once every 2 to 3 months sort of person, I think it is important to keep my knife addiction payment less than my car payment.

Not counting "package deals" I think six was my highest one day total. There was a point when I felt I was slowing down because I was "only" buying one a week and a time I though I'd slowed way down because I was only buying one a month. Think I've bought about six so far this year, plus a couple non-Spydies.

Good strategy for production runs, but you have to be able to shift gears when the rare SB, K294 or... Spydie is sighted. Those must be shot on sight ;) It requires even more skill to keep your wallet loaded at all times for such an eventuality.

I plead the fifth..
The better half knows I visit these forums on occasion, and I'd rather not give her more ammo to use against me.
I'll just say that I've spent more than I'm allowed a 'few' times.. :)

My biggest spree was my Para 1 D2, White FRN Delica, Sage 1 and Stretch CF. Birthday spending.

Nothing that big since. I work on a much more restricted purchase schedule due to the number of knives I currently own and my changing preferences. I will go out of my way to pick up sprints if I really want them, otherwise I am now about 6-8 knives a year (mixed between low and high priced spydies).

This will all change if I hit the lottery.

2 in 1 day but one of them was for my son. Other than that it just depends when I feel the need for another one. That usually equates to about 2-3 months unless a sprint decides to rear it's ugly head like the Jester did to me.

The last spree I had, was a few months ago when I got a Rookie and Dragonfly in an Ebay lot for a great price. Before that, the last Spyderco I bought was a Para2 that I picked up last year.
