Does anyone out there think a Snody/Spyderco collaboration would be cool? I really dig his funky angular grinds. I bet anything he and Spyderco got together on would be cool. What does anyone think?

Wasn't the Ronin a Snody/Janich design?
Another collab would be interesting.

What are the advantages to that crazy grind on his homepage? I think Strider does one too and calls it a Nightmare grind?

Don't know if there are any advantages, but I think it looks pretty sexy.

I think they look stupid, gimmicky, and pointless, but that's just my opinion. :o

Disregard that. I thought it said Strider. :p

Snody also made the prototype yojimbo for MJ to motivate Spyderco into producing it, d2, carbon fiber liner lock.

I would be interested in seeing a collaboration. I seem to be drawn to his crazy folding knife handle designs more so than the actual blade grind. I see no real point to the multi-grind fb on his homepage.

his whole gangster thing just turns me off. I like some of his knives, and own an original Yojimbo and Ronin. I would not purchase a knife with his name on it, if Spyderco produced one. To each their own.
Heck yeah

I dig Mike Snody's designs.
I realize he's a bit "gangsta" but, I think he's just an old Texan takin' care of his own and puttin' food on the table.
I like how he says "we don't care if you hate us or love us, we just want your money". Smart dude.
I got no reason to dislike the man. He puts himself out there and I like that.
Yes, I'm down for a collaboration! :)

I like the knives but agree. Personally seeing a product named "shank" makes it hard to take the maker seriously. A shame because he is obviously very talented.
I would love to see a Kingdom Armory as well. Similar design philosophy.

I don't anything about this guy except from what I've seen on some of his Youtube vids. Seems like kind of a tortured soul to me. I like his stuff, but I have no use for .... like that's ever stopped me before-hah!

Quirkyness asside , the man has talent. I like his designs. If we are talking about practicality then what is a Shabaria, or some of the more wild looking spyderco knives(which I love) used for? Some of us like art that can be used. I don't think the man is all that quirky, it's just his style. If most of us would admit we are kind of weird for collecting pocket knives if you asked the average person.

The Ronin certainly got my attention! I have about half a dozen of them, plus I managed to acquire a pre-owned Snody hand-made Ronin, in rough shape. I liked the original Yojimbo enough to buy two. I would not mind seeing an updated Ronin-like fixed blade from Spyderco, with perhaps a different handle shape and texture.

Snody's stuff is not generally my cup of tea but I admire the fact that he has a distinctive style and marketing flair. The only thing I have bought from him was a small piece of shop equipment and he was great to do business with, even threw some freebies into the box.

Mike Snody was beneficial to asist Mike Janich in creating 3D pieces for evaluation. Now if Mike Janich wants a 3D version of a design, we have a whole design team, engineers and prototype maker to create one for him.
