dragonfly history question

According to spydiewiki the fist ss dragonfly was made in gin-1 blade steel. That would have been in 1997 because according to the 97 catalog that is when the first ss dragonfly was made, but at that time the frn dragonfly was being made in aus-8. Now I know there are aus-8 ss dragonflies because I have seen one, so originally I dismissed it at simply being a mistake on the website and and it should say aus-8. But now in have come across a picture of a dfly that says gin-1. Did they in fact produce both or is the picture of the gin-1 from a proto and was never produced in that steel.
