My trip to Spyderco

#1

Post by Fred Sanford »

Hey folks, a couple weeks ago I was fortunate enough to visit some friends of mine that live in Littleton, Colorado. My wife, daughter, and I stayed with them for a week. We had a ball. We've been friends for a long time and our daughters are great friends. It was nice to see them again.

While we were there we drove to Golden, CO. as well as Colorado Springs and Boulder. We had a great time. We stopped at Spyderco and looked around. I bought a Manix 2 while we were there. Sal was talking to someone and as he came back through the store he introduced himself. I introduced myself and he knew exactly who I was. He was super nice and was a pleasure to talk to. There is a Kristi that works in the SFO that is NOT TazKristi and I wish I could remember her last name. She is super nice and helped my wife and I out with anything we wanted to look at or talk about.

Spyderco is a special company with special people working there. The things they do for our armed forces and the save and serve professionals are amazing. The World Trade Center steel was humbling to say the least. I've been a Spyderco customer and Forum regular since sometime in 2005 and I can tell you that they have a customer for life.

Sal, and Kristi (the other one) thank you! Very much! :)

Here are some pics, and yes that's my ugly mug standing next to Sal.

(I bet you think I took this pic for the Sage 4. Nope. That Al Mar fixed blade was amazing.)

Thanks for the virtual tour. I've got to get over to Colorado and visit sometime soon. It's only one state away...

The Golden-Colorado-USA-Earth-made Manix will be an excellent souvenir of your visit to Spyderco in Golden. (and oh yeah... it's a great knife too  )

Thanks everyone. People in the past have shared photos of their trip to Spyderco and I never thought I would actually get to go there. I couldn't possibly go to Golden Colorado and not buy a knife made right there. I can get a Japan, or Taiwan made Spyderco anywhere. I had to have a Golden model. :)

Tony, you'll get there. I'm sure of it bro!

Mr. Glesser and the institution he has fostered never cease to impress me.

Thanks for the "tour", looks like you had a blast!

Actually the store is the work of Mrs. Glesser. SFO is one Gail's babies. She hires, trains, design, layout and is constantly working on improving the location for your pleasure.

David,

Looks like you finally made it to the "Promised Land of Spydies." Thanks a bunch for the cool pictures! Man, I REALLY need to get over there and see the place for myself. It would be a real pleasure to meet Mr. Glesser and the Spydie Crew in person.
