Knife blanks...

Aside from the great Mule blanks offered, where else is a good place to buy a blank?

I'm spoiled by the Mules with crazy sharp edges and fancy steels, but now a friend wants a knife made and I couldn't bear to part with one of my Spyderco's!

Any suggestions as to what to get and where? Thanks.

Hey BC,
you should check out knifekits.com.
Btw, this should probably be in off topic.
Good luck!

Here is one that I made from a blank that I bought. There are lots of places that sell blanks but you have to be careful because a lot of them are pretty poor steel. There is one company on the net that sells blanks with pretty good steel.

This should be in the OT forum but I don't know how to move it.

North Coast Knives, Thompson's Scandinavian Knife Supply, and Ragweed Forge are all places that I'd recommend, although the last one sells mostly stick tangs. I suggest the Enzo Trapper if you're looking for something Mule sized.

Texas Knife Supply has some decent options IIRC.

I forgot them. USA Knifemaker also has some, in addition to unground ones, if that's what you want. All of these places also have handle materials, etc.

Two Finger Knife Co., ebay store, I've purchased many. USA made, "damascus," various high carbon and sometimes ATS-34. Stock changes regularly.

Thanks to everyone. Can't wait for the next mule team to come out.

Jantz is another one to check out, they have some blades in good steel.

Ben's Backwoods has some scandi ground blades, and Brisa.fi has very many. Is that enough suggestions? :D
