Hi friends

I wanted to get one because they are freaking awesome , but if they aren't legal have any suggestions for a good butterfly knife.

Help and ideas greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sure where ever a single action automatic is legal. Autos are not legal in all 50 states. Also where autos are prohibited balisongs are not legal usually.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

Yea it varies per state and per county. Typically they are as illegal To carry (for civilians) as sawed-off brass knuckle launchers.

As has been said, they're legal anywhere a single action automatic is legal. As I understand it, "double action" can mean two different things. One type is a knife that can be opened either as an auto or manually using a thumb stud or other such opening device. The other, usually an "out the front" auto, can be opened and closed using the same sliding button. Slide it forward to open, back to close. Those are definitely fun toys. :D

Correct.
For clarity, most folk refer to the OTFs with the button opening and closing the blade as DOUBLE action.
The ones with an alternative opening method are called DUEL action.
