Used Spydies?
Used Spydies?
I hear tell of guys finding good deals on used Spydercos, but Ebay doesn't seem to have much to offer. Any advice? I'm not a collector, I use knives every day and every one I own gets used. I'm just sick of them not feeling right in the hand so I'm back to Spyders. It doesn't matter to me if it looks beat up, as long as everything functions right

eBay can yield terrific finds on old (used) and NOS (new old stock) spydies (among other top brands). In the last 3 years I have been fortunate enough to find my S90V Manix 2, Volpe, Millie, Spyderawk, D2 Para and both of my Police 3s. Every one of these deals was found and "stolen" from either an individual looking to sell and old user, or from a dealer / individual with an eBay store. The trick is to set up searches for specific knifes that you are looking for and wait... I am still looking for a Dallara and enjoy seeing them pop up from time to time. For me the thrill of the hunt and getting a great deal on a new in box spydie or picking up and old user from someone who has decided to upgrade is what keeps me going back looking for the next illusive discontinued model.

Good plan. Most of what I'm looking for is pretty common fare (milli/para2/endura/ect). but i have to admit, i have ALWAYS liked the look of those dodos. When they first came out i made an aluminum cutout to see how it would fit the hand lol. I went searching for those cutouts, couldnt find them. I was 15 when i made them (23 now) so they're long gone. I spent at least 6 hours getting it perfect and i have yet to hold a real one in my hand...

Hey Exile,
Don't count out looking at flea markets for used spydercos.
I found a Terzuola slip it for thirty bucks, a original viele pe for seventy, an old centofante for thirty, and three ladybugs for ten dollars or less.
Sometimes I strike out, but I always keep my eyes open for those holes.
Good luck!
Later,
Don

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, even if it is wrong.
I have been very lucky on the bay in the last month or so on buying used Spydies. I got a Gayle Bradley, and a Para 2 SV30, in seperate buys, for the tottal of $175. Both knives were pristine, and could have been sold by less honest sellers for NIB.
I think I have been lucky :) , as well as a careful buyer.
Dan.
