Cool Critters

Around 11:00 this morning my son came racing into the house to get me..."Daddy you have to come see this Moth I found".
Naturally, I grabbed the camera and went to see what the fuss was about (I'm a bit of a Nerd when it comes to insects and animals) and there hanging off of our hand rail was a large, beautiful, almost bat-like Moth.
I arrived home from work at 6:30 to find that our friend was still hanging out, so after a minute or two on Google I concluded that out visitor is a Blinded Sphinx Moth.
I've never seen this particular Moth nor the Caterpillar before but apparently they're quite common. Seems that they like to hang in one spot for a considerable amount of time before moving on. I'm anxious to see how long this girl stays.

In this image you can see that she has a parasite or two hitching a ride.

I just took this shot with my Sage for size reference.
