Spyderco's next "it" Knife

#1

Post by wsdavies »

Of the new stuff coming out, what do you think will be the knife that blade collectors embrace. The Szabo, Techno, Ulize, Tuff, Titanium Chapperal. It seemed like it was the Gayle Bradle for a while and then the Navaja. Thoughts?

Yea...I forgot about the Southard, but I guess I'm thinking about the stuff that will be out in the next month or two.

Definitely the Southard. Not sure on pricing for the Southard but the Techno is pricey. I want one of each but the Southard is first on the list.

Southard is gonna be pricey too I bet. Southard, South Fork, Tuff, Techno, Szabo are all going to be good, but based on size and intended purposes I think the Southard hits the majority or users. The Szabo is bad a** but not a ton of people looking for a folder to chop Orcs up with. Techno is pricey AND small which people sometimes don't like and the Tuff, well, the dimples kill it for me.

The only one in my price range or one that I would EDC is the Chap. Maybe the Techno.

Hard to say at this time. Spyderco's first flipper knife, the Southard will be my bet.

WILL own a Southard.
Not sure if it will kick one of my PM2's out of the pocket though.

If I only buy two more knives this year, it will certainly be a Southard and the Tuff. But my tastes have not always paralleled those of collectors, so who knows if they will agree with me.

I voted Szabo. I think collectors will covet it because it looks cool and lethal. Spyderco already sells a ton of very nice models in practical sizes and shapes, but it seems like a collector wants something different, special, something with personality. To me that is the Szabo.
