Sprint Question

#1

Post by newcoyote »

I like Spyderco sprint runs and have a few. Is there a place to find out the numbers produced of each run?I does not say on the Spyderco site for this model. I have a Brown Millie in CTS-XHP and have used it well. I can't seem to find how many of this run where made.

No, there is not. That information is made available for some runs at the time they're announced, for others at the time they're released, we've found out the quantities for a couple by asking on this forum, but there are probably still a few for which it's never been specified. Sprints of Japanese models generally run 1200-1500 pieces, but that number is sometimes split between two edge types. Sprints of US models are generally smaller, but they're less restricted. There's been at least one where only 400 were made, others as high as 1000. There are also dealer and distributor exclusives, which some folks lump in with Sprints but which follow rules of their own. The initial quantity on those is set by the sponsor and the sponsor does have the option to order more.

However, you're in luck. Spydiewiki, while it does not have data for every Spyderco, does list the number for the Sprint you're asking about at 1000 pieces.

Cool. Thanks for the great reply. I have wondered because I have seen a fair amount of them (the Brown Millie) and it got me curious. Obviously the amount I have happened to see does not correlate how many there are. It just means I've been looking in the right places. Like minded people.
