What's the story behind Spyderco Experimentals?
Hey guys, i was just wondering if any of you had any info about the experimental series of knives.
i'm working a deal on a spyderco experimental 01 which i am told later became known as the pegasus.
any info would be great

Well in my opinion the "Experimental" factor doesn't lend all that much to value especially if it doesn't come with a box as there is no way to differentiate an Experimental with a Pegasus.
We would rather be the knife in your pocket, because is "works" better, than the knife in your showcase, because it "looks" better.

I believe one of the reasons, although probably not the only reason, for the "Experimental" designations was that model names had not been decided upon.

That's a cool looking knife. The blade sort of reminds me of the Dragonfly Salt.JAfromMN wrote:^i just got this pegasus.
it may be a experimental 01 but theirs no way to tell without the box...

Not to change the subject, Ted, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one for whom the models page has not rendered properly in Firefox since your pages were merged with Spydiewiki? On my computers, when using Firefox, the photos don't show at all and everything past the regular K01-K09 Pro Culinaire kitchen sharps is rendered as text only without formatting. In the grand scheme of things, it's not a huge problem, since the page renders properly IE and Chrome. Just means that, since I don't use either of them regularly, I have to fire one up when I want to view it.

OK, didn't know that. I'll take that into consideration when doing the next update. I'm thinking of doing something iPad/Android style, but need to improve on my HTML5 coding for that :)The Deacon wrote:Not to change the subject, Ted, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one for whom the models page has not rendered properly in Firefox since your pages were merged with Spydiewiki?
