canadian customs question

#1

Post by white cloud »

i am headed to alaska this summer. my flight there lands in vancouver b.c. and i am told i will have to pass through canadian customs before boarding another plane to alaska. i usually edc a small sak and a spyderco tasman salt. my plan was to put these in the shaving kit carried in my checked bag.

i would appreciate any knowledge observations or experience any of you might have regarding canadian customs and knives, especially the two i mentioned.

thanks all

As long as they go in your checked luggage, NOT your carry-on, should be no problem at all. I've done this with a 3" folder.

I have travelled extensively accross Canada and never had an issue. Since you will be checking them in (not carry on) you should have no issue.

Since we are not restricted in what we can carry aside from the usual no balisongs, switchblades or gravity knives the two mention will not be an issue. We are not permitted to carry for self defense purposes, aside from that if you have a legitamate reason for carrying your are fine. A machete to the office will be hard to explain.

Enjoy your trip and if you get a chance Vancouver is a great city.
