New to Spyderco..... have a small collection started already...... and have my first "cut". I was holding my Centofante horizontally and released the lock, The blade (gravity) just fell and it hit my finger..... :o I was bleeding. Pretty sharp!!
Note to self- make sure fingers are out of the way of falling blades
Here is the culprit along with my newest Spyderco(Persian)

Had a Spyderhawk SE do the same thing. Took a while to stop the bleeding.

Did that yesterday with a Manix 2...I was adjusting the pivot screw and (stupidly) held it horizontally. I pulled the release and the blade swung fully closed, or rather it would have if my finger had not been in the way. Bled quite a lot...

I was bit by an Endura and a Tenacious, took a bit before the bleeding finally stopped. It's a good thing these knives are not poisonous!

Make sure a finger is in the way of the choil or riccasso and you'll have no worries.

It was a Manix 2 SE that got me. Released the lock and THUNK. Totally my fault of course.

It pays to take care with a sharp edge. Wait until they get more sharp :D
A few weeks ago I got zinged by a very sharp Balance at work. It was all I could do to staunch the bleeding with bandaids I had before it turned into one of those "safety incidents". Phew :o Again the cause was my own lapse in attention :o

Nope, it ain't funny and should be avoided by paying more attention with a sharp edge.

Get in the habit of having your forefinger high in the choil when closing:

When closing a liner lock--particularly a Tenacious--your thumb needs to be as close to the pivot as possible. The Tenacious makes this particularly difficult. I have literally lost count of the people who have said (in video reviews, product reviews, forum posts, etc.) they cut their thumb on a Tenacious. It's over a dozen and I wasn't even looking for such reports. I've cut my own a couple times.

I was a little bit surprised that my M2 would fully close from a horizontal position...

I like it!
Just got mine today. I'm keeping my fingers far away though.
I did drop a combo edge Endura closed on myself. It was one of those slow motion "You idiot, now you've done it!" kinda moments. Those teeth sticking into your finger? No bueno.

One tip - superglue. I "bit" myself on a caly 3 that way (I deserved it, I was giving a slight flick to drop the blade and finger was not up in the choil).
enjoy the blade, once you are familiar with it, it won't happen again.

Did your Centofante III come with the name "Centofante" on the back of the blade? I have never seen that before.

That's the way I close my Manix2. I can't close it the way the guys with larger hands do...

(^^ Yes David , it did ) Being new to "sharp" knives, I did not realize being bit by a Spydie was that common ( or popular

) . Seems like the Manix is a repeat offender........... I wore the band-aid like a badge of honor

Probably because the M2 has a pretty heavy blade that moves like greased lightening. Mine is easily as smooth as my Para2, and I think might open a bit faster.
