I'm just curious about this knife:

I personally have mixed feelings about it. Perhaps it's the newer style carbon fiber(Although I really love the Walker sprint). Or possibly the placement of the screws/pins down the middle. I can't put my finger on it, but for some reason I just don't love this one like I do the Micarta version.

I guess I'm just trying to spark a discussion on this knife. I did a search on the forum before posting this. All I really saw was the "shipping thread". What is the general consensus here? I had 2, sold 1.. and I'm wondering if it's worth keeping or if I should try to sell/trade it somewhere to fund something I may enjoy a little more.

Wrong handed and extremely lefty unfriendly liner lock, so no interest in owning one. However, I must say that from a purely esthetic standpoint, the CF version's handle looks better balanced and less busy than the original G-10 version with the four pins along the top.

This is purely dependent on what "your opinion" is as it relates to the style and functionality. No knife is for everyone which is no better realized by the Spyderco Captain.

I like the knife but never bought one. It's probably worth 20-50% more than it was when released. This makes me think I will never own one. Period. :)

For the curious (like me) who don't use the Spydie numbers much  , we're talking about the Spyderco Zowada Carbon Fiber. :D

Thank Waffle, now that I'm logged on I can see in the survey you did put the name of the knife too. FWIW, keep it a while, unless you need the $$ now. It will go up in value some more.

That's kind of how I was leaning. I don't really NEED the money. If it could help me buy a different Spyderco(One I might be happier with) though, then I would be okay with unloading it. I'm sure it'll go up in value, but I'm not really one who buys Spyderco's to flip and profit(I know that's not what you meant). Decisions, decisions... :spyder:  :spyder:

The C-56 Zowada> A super big winner in VG-10

Post by JD Spydo »

The Zowada is truly one of my all time favorite Spyders ever. When I was having a bad year financially back in 2010 it was one of the models I was forced to sell :( I still get depressed thinking about it. I wish I could find one of the older VG-10 models or one of the newer Sprint CF models.

I would pass up on this new Lum Tanto folder I'm trying to get if I knew where to snag one.

I've always loved the Zowada and the C-50 Centofante models. Those spikey models truly have a place in my heart as well as Benchmade's Boguszewski Spike model that I'm carrying today.

Thumbs up!! HIGH FIVE!!! and a big A+ on that model

I love it. It's got a cool dagger-like shape. A very nice knife, either the original classic version or the updated recent sprint. A+

The original version remains one of my favorites. The CF version is even better.

AUS-8 to VG-10 was an awesome difference

I still remember when they had the original AUS-8 version and when they revamped it in VG-10 and made them to where you could take them apart instead of being riveted it made it a completely different knife. I sure am sad that I missed the oportunity to snag one of the Sprint runs models in Carbon Fiber :(

There is something so functional but yet simple about that knife that defies most other designs of that style. It is a really easy knife to sharpen and it stays sharp beyond belief. The Zowada and the C-50 Centofante are 2 of my all time favorite Spyders. I'm hoping that the C-50 might get a Sprint run as well.

It's a mixed bag for me on the Zowada. It always intrigued me and wanted to get the original but I never seemed to get lucky to find one at the right price. With the CF version being available, I finally pulled the trigger and got one. Now that I have one in my hand and cut some paper and envelopes, I can pretty much find using it only for those purposes. It's wide and clipped in my pocket, blocks more of the opening than other knives. The tip would be too fragile for heavy use and potentially break off. It's wicked sharp though. After much thought, I sold it shortly thereafter. Most told me either you'll love it or hate it. I wouldn't say that I hate it but don't like it enough to consider keeping it.
