I have the 1.0 and the 2.0.

Also, the knife is a DPX Gear HEST/f 2.0 that is manufactured by Lionsteel. I like it, it is normally my weekend carry knife. The glass breaker and the thick blade are the selling points for me.

This is the knife i drool over every time i pick up a magazine. I have a soft spot for rough natural linen micarta. Didn't i read somewhere that they had issues with the locks on these knives?

I always liked the look and features of the knife. Any chance you could take a measurement of the cutting edge?

I used to want one, but heard that there are some issues like the lock. Titanium on steel will wear in time, there should have been a steel end bit attached to the liner for reliability and longevity. The main turn off is when the blade is close the edge is very close the back of the knife, and there is a possibility of getting cut. Also with the blade edge is not being tucked inside far enough when closed, anything in your pockets could come in contact with the edge and ding/dull it up. That is a factor with all open back knives though...

i also like the replaceable end-but they had too keep a price point and gave you the roto lock instead-ti framelocks are used by everyone yes they wear in time but what doesnt?

on mine the blade is no where near the edge when closed,no way to cut yourself-

and millions of knives have open backs-quite a few spyderco ones

Apparently they've changed their design on the 2.0, and the pivot and design has been altered; so maybe it has been corrected.

Yes, there are plenty of open back knives, and there is nothing wrong with them. The only thing is that loose pocket change, keys, etc. can and will degrade nice edges if utmost care is not taken.

I'm intrigued by this DPx HEST/F 2. Looks great, like the Bottle opener and other features. No spyderco or any other knife I own has a blade like that.
The 2.0 seems to be fixed greatly based on customer feedback from what I've read. Also read about Mr Pelton's "fiasco" on Blade forums. Either way, his customer service on his forums seems good, and he regularly offers to fix/replace people's knives when they have issues.
That's something I like about Spyderco, and Emerson. I've had great customer service from both.

The H.E.S.T. 2.0 is a beast of a knife and all of it packed in a 3" blade. The bottle opener acts great as a wave function as well. Customer service is absolutely spot on! I've had zero problems with my 2.0

Don't like the bottle opener. Mixing drinking good beer that requires you to open with a bottle and a knife that could injure yourself or someone else with is not a good thing.

Also, 3 inch blade is about a half inch to short. Handle is probably to short too?

Looks well made though. Think I'll just wait for my lionspy instead.

The opener works very well with the knife closed. No safety concerns at all. Handle fits my hand like a glove (medium hands).

There are still parts of the world still where other beverages (soda, water) come in bottles with pressed-on caps.
