Plenty of discussion about this. I know you don't necessarily want to void the warranty but I'm sure shipping and waiting is a bummer also. The mechanism doesn't appear to be rocket science and I wonder if a self fix is an option?

It looks like something got stucked between the gear and the blade because they are moving together.
while the gear shouldn't move normally

It my not appear to be rocket science but, IIRC, Sal has suggested that this is something best fixed by Spyderco.

it takes 4 weeks to send the package to spyderco.
and the package might get lost.

That really bites, I know how it is when you are excited to get something and it doesn't work. Seems to be a problem that comes up quite a bit on these. Can't cutlery Shoppe help you out?

Contact Spyderco customer service next week. Ask them what you should do. They may just send you the piece of wire that makes the noise, or they may tell you to return the knife. They may have other suggestions as well, since they have a representative in the Netherlands who may be able to act as an intermediary.

I would call them on Monday. Emails work but sometimes get lost in the mix. Mine do at least. :(

To each their own, but when my Navaja stopped making noise, and the action is still smooth as butter, I like it better.
But, that's me.
