A couple of days ago I received my first custom, hand-made knife after a rather agonizing 4-month wait. I am one happy camper (no pun intended)!!
The knife was made by Abe Elias of Diving Sparrow Knife Works, currently based in Ontario Canada, and the model is called "The Steel".

The above pic was taken by the maker before he etched his logo on the blade. The steel is good ol' 1095 carbon steel in a full convex grind, over 5" long and 3/16" thick. Handles are black paper micarta.

The Steel in it's leather sheath, which Abe also makes.
I'd recommend anyone, especially Canadians looking to get their hands on a custom knife, take a look at Abe's site: http://www.dskw.ca/

I'm gonna stick to customs for my fixed blades from now on, with the exception of a couple of production knives on my radar; for my folders, nothing beats the Spyders!
Thanks! There's a certain heft and sheer density to 1095 that simply isn't there in stainless steels that draws me to it... and the edge :eek:SQSAR wrote:Congratulations! I'm sure those four months were absolute ****. I love 1095. There's a reason it's been around for so long, and is still going strong.
