Have any of you removed the pocket clips on your EDC knives?

I really was wondering if I wanted to advertise that I'm carrying. There are lots of times here in Mexico when we are stopped in my SUV and it is searched by various Military and Police agencies.

I know it's different in the good ole USA generally, and I really don't mind having my Endura loose in the pocket as well as my other EDC blades. But since I automatically clip them to the pocket, I figure it might be good to just remove the clips.

What think ye?

I took them off a few of my knives and ended up putting them back on. Even though I wasn't using the clip for it's obvious purpose, I missed having it as an anchor for my little finger when closing the blade, especially on the Manix 2.

Some time back, I removed the pocket clip from a Chris Reeve Sebenza and found that it didn't fit in my hand like it did before... kind of like it became too thin, did not have as sure of a grip as before, and it didn't feel as comfortable. So, I put the clip back on.

Since then I haven't permanently removed the pocket clip of any knives I've bought that come with one. Even for those that I've had leather sheaths made for, the sheaths are made with the pocket clip still attached.

I figure the knife makers design their pocket-clipped knives so that the clip serves or fits in as a integral part of the overall design and function. I certainly notice a difference when the clip is removed.

For your reasoning I don't think I'd miss it on my Endura, I don't think I use the clip for grip/opening or closing. I wouldn't remove mine but I can see why you would.
Removing the clip would make it feel better in the pocket esp since you don't intend to use the clip anyhow.
Is it a law thing or a harassment thing? I understand how doing anything to decrease law attention is, I've had many conversations with friends and made choices that lead to less police attention.
P.s. sell the clip to someone else, an extra clip would give me full pocket placement any time I want it.

I always leave the clip on, even on knives I carry deep pocket. I figure if for some reason I need to carry with the clip it'll always be there.

Same here. A clip is a big advantage to help disengage a lock.

Being a teacher in high school, I removed the clip from the Caly Jr. Week end is another story :p

I have a few that I have taken the clip off. My Manix 2 is the best without a clip I love it so much more. Stuff it in my back pocket and its perfect there.
Valloton...also no clip. Feels better and looks better. Also, MW CF is clipless and I have used my Native 4 clipless as well.
As much as I love deep carry...it is the one BIG complaint that I have about Spydercos wire clips...they leave such really nasty big gaping hole in the scales. The new Techno...I love the looks of it, but other than the wrong hanfed lock...my issue is that it has a wire clip...and to take it off and pocket carry it...it is going to look like ***. All that nice Ti and big nasty holes in it.

First thing I do on Spydercos I plan to carry is remove the clip. Any that I've had customized don't even have provision for one anymore. Even without any pressing legal reason for full concealment, I simply think deep pocket carry is the safest and most responsible way to carry a knife. Less stress for the timid, less temptation for those with sticky fingers.

I've removed mine on my Caly Jr with no regrets. The knife is more comfortable for me to use without it. Others I have left on.
Cheers,
Stew.

Pocket Clips

The first thing I do after I receive a knife with pocket clips is to remove them.

Not gonna happen here. If I want to throw it in my pocket, the clip doesn't get in the way, so why remove it? Best invention since knives. I don't care who sees the clip most times. In fact, I always have an eye out for others carrying knives with clips - not enough people carry knives, it seems (not sure what that has to do with anything - just an observation).

- best wishes, Jazz.

Some on, some off. Big knife, for hikes, yard work, leave it on. Rest of them, off. I love knives I can drop in pocket - no clips, no open backs. Some exceptions: Sebenza, clipless with fob and bead goes in watch pocket. Best clipless Spydercos = delica, native, UKPK series, Leafstorm, etc...

I rarely EDC'ed a knife before i discovered pocket clips. I can't stand fumbling around in my pocket when i need to find my knife. I usually wear jeans, which can be a pain to get your hand in the pocket at times (i also have huge hands). I've tried to carry clipless with a lanyard and it just wasn't the same.

I've never used a clip, it just seems odd to me. I guess having carried knives for years before the clip was invented is a factor.

For me the biggest perk of a clip is to aid in one-handed opening. Personally i would rather deep pocket the knife with the clip. Oh, and advertising aside it helps not to lose the knife.
