Anyone notice that The Shoppe's prices increased on a lot of spydies? Just something worth noting

I just looked and if memory serves, most changed from 46% off MSRP to 44%.

You had me scared there for a minute.

CS is worth it!

Hike is minimal, about $5 or $6 it seems.

As most know and others have stated, Jeff is extremely accommodating and a gentleman to deal with, nevermind the fact that he has some of the most competitive pricing anywhere.

Personally, I've been more than pleased with my experience thus far; Cutlery Shoppe is excellent.

The only problem with CS is that their prices are so good that they are out of stock on the "it" knives half the time.

i think cutlery shoppe has some of the best prices around. i'm pretty much a regular shopper at their site and also at knifeworks. never had a bad experience at either one.

What's minimal to one person might not seem so minimal to everyone else. I consider the price hike disappointing and unfortunate. Now, instead of beating everybody price-wise, CS is becoming equal, giving less incentive to shop there.

That is true.

Personally, I don't have an issue with the increase given the top notch service that CS provides and the Spyderco quality that I know I'll receive.

Jeff keeps his prices competitive; he has to with the sheer quantity of on line vendors. If you couple that with the shipping code being offered I think you'll agree that current pricing is still on point and still comes in lower than many other dealers.

Even if Cutlery Shoppe hiked their prices a bit, he needs to put food on the table (like everyone else). Echoing a lot of other folks earlier, his service is absolutely top-notch.

Case in point: I ordered a Leatherman Fuse w/nylon sheath from CS awhile back, and they called me because they were sold out of the nylon, and wanted to make sure I was okay with a leather sheath. In my mind, attention to detail and the willingness to follow up with customers on little stuff like that is what will keep me coming back.

You said a mouthful here. Jeff performs some of the best customer service I've ever received from an online retailer. Any email I have sent to Jeff I received a response in rapid fashion.

I agree 100%. Jeff is always extremely responsive and happy to help. I'll gladly pay the extra 2% for the level of service he provides.

Jeff and The Cutlery Shoppe are top notch in my experience. He wouldn't raise prices unless warranted.

I dont know what is going on behind the scenes, but I would guess that Jeff would not raise prices just to make a few more bucks. He could have done that long ago given the prices some of the other frequently shopped internet stores charge. With the service and often above and beyond free goods he provides to make things right, he would make more money by just not replacing stuff for free like he does at times. Ive heard where he gave one forumite 2 free replacements when his shipments were stolen! He must have solid reasons for the change. Ive been doing business with Jeff since I became a Spyderholic and personally dont care about a minor price hike to cover whatever costs he has to cover. His service and customer commitment are top notch and worth my loyalty. Quite frankly, he has been undercharging us for the level of servie he provides. If you look at any other business practices, you usually pay a premimum for great service. Jeff has managed to do both for a long time.

I can't believe those complaining. The only other place that consistently comes close to CS prices is Howes and SpydercoVT. Even with CS's discount changing from 46% to 44%, that beats the usual 38% discount from KW, NGK, or GPK and certainly beats KC's usual 36%. The extra couple of bucks more still makes him one of, if not still the absolute, cheapest yet reliable places to get Spydies.
