Hey guys, id just like to say that im new here and so far loving the community. Also this is my first post so go easy :) . and as you can see i got a little lazy on the username haha. :D
I am looking at a new blade (preferably a spyderco) and im not sure what to get. i have about 150 bucks and im pretty sure that it should be enough. i already have a tenacious (great little knife) but the thing gets quite the workout on the farm, and because i am just starting a apprenticeship as a sparky id like to try out a new knife.

Cheers

The paramilitary 2 is an awsome knife. Not too big, great ergonomics, and fairly tough. The manix 2 i would be a great choice as well.

My wife carries her Delica 4 in her purse. So far, it has stood well against being knocked around with lipstick, a checkbook, "feminine products", compact, brushes, and various purse contents. Oh and she occasionally cuts a box or some similar thing open. It's proven quite durable :D

If looking for something to work with the Manix2 is a great choice. I have one of those and they are sturdy knives. I don't own a Paramilitary2 but have heard great things about it. If you are looking for something dressier I'd say Sage1 or Chaparral. Both are new knives for me and a couple of the best. Sage1 is my favorite knife. It looks great and seems to be up to some hard work as well.

Oh yeah, welcome to this forum. Lots of good people here and they help each other all the time. If you need tips an anything just ask. We'll definately be asking you for any tips on things.

Looking in my wife's purse is like looking into a black hole of terror.

The Delica4 is a great knife and a great place to start with Spyderco's. I'd go with the VG-10 blade. It is great steel and easy to maintain compared to the ZDP-189. But if you are comfortable with sharpening harder steels ZDP-189 is a good choice. The Delica will definately hold up to some hard work. If you end up considering a Manix2 I'd consider the M4 blade model. It will take all your knife fund the I'm liking this steel better the more I use it. I have 2 knives with it now. Reminds me, the Gayle Bradley is about as tough as the Manix2, also has M4 and is a beautiful knife. Less expensive than the Manix2 with M4 also. But with the Delica4, that would leave funds for another knife, sharpening tools, etc.

I definitely second all the suggestions on here. The Manix2 and Paramilitary would be my two choices... plus with the money you have you could also get a delica in addition to it :) maybe even pick up one of the new orange ones! :) I love my Manix2, it's my EDC. Occasionally it gets rotated out for my Delica or an Endura. The Sage's are rly nice too if you were looking for something smaller and nice. Can't go wrong with anything anyone has said.

You tube has some good videos showing how to make different style lanyards so you might want to check that out . As far as prices in the states a para2 starts out around $97 or so .

The Lanyard Zone has a good selection and reasonable prices. They also will make some custome. You pick style and color. I just ordered two requesting a longer loop and short know. They are on the way now.

http://thelanyardzone.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=21

There's a guy on ebay who has a few. His prices are ok and free shipping.

chief2k Marine Items is his name or store. I found him by searching on "lanyards" or "knife lanyards"

Actually I think the name for what you are talking about is FOB. I think a lanyard is the thing that has a loop to go around your wrist. I think that's right but not sure. Or a lanyard goes from your knife to your belt to keep you from dropping it over the side of the boat. How would you like to see your $400 collector's sprint run hit the water in the middle of a lake?

PS edit: There are several inet/forum sites to learn how to tie knots, books also I'm sure. Someone else will have to suggest them.

username,
Welcome to the forum.
If you need something bigger than tenacious, consider Endura or Military, otherwise Para2 is a great choice. You can check prices at New Graham knives.
It is very good dealer and ships oversears.
We have here quite a few guys from your country, check with them their sources. Also check classified on bladeforums, probably you will be able to save few bucks.
Good luck

Yes, I'd check the lanyard zone. So far they seem to have the best "one place" to get a good variety. I just like the "plain jane" FOBs myself. I just ordered a black/yellow plain jane and another color plain jane but don't remember the colors. Cost for two after shipping was $13.50. They sell para-cord, beads and different things for DIY.

I'd like to learn to tie different ones but it looks like it takes patience to learn. Just one more thing on my LONG list of things to learn. :)
